BioShock is an innovative role-playing shooter from Irrational Games who was named IGN's 2005 Developer of the Year. Sequel to System Shock 2, BioShock immerses players into a war-torn underwater utopia, where mankind has abandoned their humanity in their quest for perfection.

Fueled by intense player choices and consequences, BioShock has been already hailed as one of the most anticipated games of 2007.

2K and Irrational have released a couple of new screenshots of the game. Witness the next role-playing game that will take over your life.

Sounds like a great game in the making to me this game has looked good since day.

The story of BioShock - According to the game's story, the settlement, known as Rapture, was supposed to be a social paradise where the strongest, smartest, and most beautiful members of society went off to live under the ocean, free of strife (and all that pesky government regulation). Everything seemed to be going well, until the inhabitants of the undersea city discovered the secret of genetic manipulation through a substance called "adam," which the inhabitants began to use to augment their already-peak physiques and minds.
BioShock will challenge you to survive in the ruins of a failed undersea utopia.
The result was a disaster that has ruined the city, turned many of its inhabitants into homicidal, mutant monsters known as "splicers," and left behind a bizarre, three-part ecology in which recycled genetic materials are sought out by splicers and harvested from the corpses of Rapture by young gatherers known as "little sisters," who are guarded by powerful soldiers known as "big daddies." The game will let players explore the city in the wake of its crisis, pick up genetic enhancements for themselves to grant them mutant powers, and use enhancements for their weapons to defend themselves using first-person shooter gameplay. Irrational general manager Ken Levine explains.
