........and it was freakin' so much damn fun! This guy had 4 plasma TVs (two 50" and two 42") - and yes, the guy is rich as hell...but, anyway, I couldn't believe how much fun we had. No one realized that we played for a solid 8 hours with only one lunch break.

I haven't had this much fun playing a game in what feels like years. It wasn't just the social experience with friends...it was the game itself. Sure, it was somewhat chaotic on the smaller maps like Prisoner and Chill Out; however, it was so much damn fun at the same time. CTF at Blood Gulch was unbelievable. I am so used to the Halo 2 sniper that I really felt rusty with the Halo 1 sniper...but, it was like riding an old bike and eventually I got my skills back.

Talking about Halo 1 is one thing, but, to actually sit down and play it for 8 hours with a bunch of buddies is another. Damn, I would do this every weekend if I remembered how fun this was back in the day. The only problem is that it's hard to get everyone together all of the time.

Anyway, I just thought I would share this with you guys...I really need to get a plasma now!

10 man is pretty crazy. Most I've ever done is 8. Always tons of fun though. Never played on a plasma TV either.

Oh hell yeah, brothers! If anyone wants to come to Seattle, it will be mandatory to play some Halo 1 and set up a LAN again!

It was unfreakin'believable...pun completely intended ;)

Thats awesome bro! I know what you mean I've had a few mass LAN games with halo and halo2 with plasmas and projectors... heeeeeaps of fun!

I think its cause you can scream at eachother from around the room. Plus everyones got their thing... theirs the beast thats always hanging out in the tank, the beast thats always flying around in the banshee and the idiot gapping around the open with a single plasma pistol (i.e., the easy kill). Awesome mate

now with halo 2, I am a poor college guy playing with a lot of other poor college guys so nothin much has really changed...lol

We do Halo and Halo2 lans all the time at GC.
This Saturday (Nov 25th) will be one... GoW also.

I have tried to do a few Halo tournaments and not many people show up. Toxin, Proxa, Regulator, Drifter and a handful of others do, but we only field about 4 or 5 teams.

I will prob try a Halo 2v2 in Feb or March.

Yeah my friends and I have really gotten into the LAN thing, as opposed to XBL. Just last night I was at my friends house playing 16 man halo 2, all night

2 team CTF at coagulation w/ no shields has to be the greatest LAN party game out there. Also, I found the secret to a great LAN game is having the teams in seperate rooms playing, so they can talk and strategize without the other team being right there to listen in and screen their tv. Of course after the games over you can run into the other room and laugh at all the losers you just pwned.

We used to have Halo1 LAN parties all the time. They were great! Me and my roommate lived in a big farmhouse and we would set up 2 32" TV's in our upstairs den and 2 TV's in the downstairs livingroom. Made for some great 8v8 games! Halo2 pretty much killed the LAN parties as we knew it but we kind of took it to the next level. We now have a basement setup with 16 TV's, 6 permanent X-box's and 2 360's. The TV's that don't have a box hooked up has all the wires so that our friends just need to bring their boxes. No need to pull the wires.

We now get together and go online as 1 big group. It is so cool to have an 8 man team running and not have to use headsets. What an advantage.

Here is a pic of a part of the basement setup. We were running a mock tournament when this pic was taken.

I've actually played there. We had a good time, I remember. The only problem I had (at the time) was you mostly have anologue tube televisions - much more fuzzy compared to an HDTV or Plasma.

Have you guys updated yet? If so, count me there!

First of all, that's pretty kick ass, CenterShock...definately a good time!

And, Jackal...the only problem with Halo LANs or any LAN for that matter is there seems to always be one or two guys that step away to grab something to drink, take a break, talk on the phone, etc etc. If that happens, it sucks when you want to play...sometimes you're lucky to get in 8 games by the end of it.

I'm really picky from now on when I get people together. I like playing mostly...keeping breaks at a minimum.

Yeah that's unfortunate that you get those few people who aren't totally into it. The odd break I can see but talkin on the phone not really.

Just played an 8 man halo lan with my some of my friends yesterday...it was awesome. One game came down to 49-48 and we were all hiding cause the other team had a sniper position on us (on colussus) and one of my friends who sucks got killed making it 49-49. So my friend who's god-like at halo (48 legit) took his handle and raped the sniper from where he spawned (one of the lucky 4SK's ive ever seen :D) Pretty intense game.

lol, this is our main problem too when we lan. we take to many breaks and its takes forever to start playing again

Exactly...That's why I strongly prefer 3 v 3 matches. If you have 4 TVs, it works out since 2 people on one TV, 2 on another, and 1 and 1 on single TVs (so they can't "screen cheat" - you know what I mean!).

I own 4 TVs, but, 1 isn't very good to play on. The other 3 are awesome!

I have one 55" Plasma, one 50" rear projection HDTV, and one 36" Tube with Component hook ups. My other one is a 20" flat tube that sits in my garage where my pool table dwells...must watch sports while playing pool!

Hey Maximus,

We still have the LANs for Halo and Halo2. It is a lot more fun dodging controllers and hearing the breaking of expensive stuff up close, after killing someone for the 3rd or 4th time in a row.

One time...not at band camp...I tried to eat some chips and I almost choked on an 'X' button. These things happen a lot.

We try and get a bunch of the boys together, 1 a month or so. Everybody brings their box and a TV. No screen watching. Like the old days of HALO CE.

Brasco

By the way, have you guys figured a way to keep the beer and pizza off of the controllers.
