Yeah I just wanted to be able to do it.

Also, I would like to hear some reactions from members about the multiplayer in this game. I have yet to play it.. and really I'm not all that interested (looks too much like Quake for me, and I have enough FPS). However, if the multiplayer is very good, it can make me want a game... it all comes down to the online play for me nowadays. I have been on Perfect Dark Zero since day 1 playing online, and pretty much have done all I can do now.. FINALLY I have found a new game with awesome multiplayer to move on to.. Call of Duty 3.

'k, I'm new so my opinion might count for naught to you, but you asked and I'm here...

I'll skip the awesome singleplayer since you don't seem interested in it... BUT, there is the option to play through the single player story in Co-op both offline (Splitscreen or LAN) or online, which is excellent. Only for 2 people though, so it still might no be an aspect that hooks you.

So onto the Multiplayer:
Visually this game is without equal, the maps look amazing, the players look unbelievable, the weapon fire and physics not to mention the gore are nothing short of draw dropping.

It's limited in it's modes, they're ALL team-based (Which pissed off my brother but bothers me none) so if you're looking for a typical deathmatch, you'd best look elsewhere.
You have Execution (Which seems to be the most commonly played mode) where you and your comrades try to kill to opposing team. No respawns and teamwork is important. You can kill opponents 3-4 ways:
1- Headshot (Easily achieved with a Sniper but every other weapon requires some effort)
2- Chainsaw Melee (Oh it's so pretty & SO SO satisfying)
3- Curb Stomp (Pressing X on a downed opponent)
4- Hammer of Dawn (Only available on a select few missions.)
Oh, and there's the Nade melee where you impale the Nade and leg it, but that can often be suicidal.
If you don't kill them, they get back up onto their feet in 20 (default setting) seconds or quicker if assisted.
Execution is simply awesome, I can't stress enough how much fun it is. Every method of kill is so beautiful and fun that you find yourself using every kill technique just to see them again and again. You can assist your teammates (Like a medic in CoD3) if they've been dropped, but not if they've been killed (HS, Chainsaw, any of above really) so it's important to stick together and work as a team.
And it is about teamwork. If you are usually a Rogue trooper, you'll usually get humped unless you're facing truly inept opponents.

The other 2 modes are Assassination, where one member of a team has to be protected. The other members are stuck with their default arms until the 'target' picks them up and drops them for his bodyguards (Kinda unlocking them if you will.) & Warzone which is more of a standard Team Elimination where players can bleed out without the need for one of the above specialised kills. In this it is far more important to have team mates working together as without medic assistance you'll die.

The fact that there are currently only the 3 modes might suggest a limited lifespan for the Multiplayer aspect, but I can honestly say I don't think so in this case. It's simply a great, team based, glorious shooter. In playing the last few nights back to back with sessions usually lasting into the 3am, I see no signs of flagging.

And I'm trying, but I can't think of anything bad to say about it, it really is that much fun. Couple of the maps are on the small side, but that just means you get into the thick of it quicker, which is no bad thing. Hope that helps.

Edited to add: I've thought of a negative. If you play with strangers, you might find this is a game you want to miss. I've heard tell of idiots who basically abuse the system where they'll kill 2 of your teammates, then all three will just surround you, drop you, let you get back up, drop you, let you get back up, drop you... rather than finish you off because it increases their stats and rank. Imagine it won't happen as much in player matches rather than ranked matches, but unless you've got a group of friends who play the game right, it's maybe not worth the risk.

I like it but it's by no means going to kill Halo2 as far as multiplayer. Their is a game on the horizon that will..............................................................................................

Best multiplayer besides Halo. However in the multiplayer I really dislike the grenade sticking aspect (reminds me of the sword in Halo 2, automatic death to anyone that gets close to you).

I hear ya EMX it sucks to et stuck but you have to remember that even doing that isn't a bit as easy as it sounds, I've tried myself and people just won't stay put for a second when they got somebody running at them with a grenade.

Multiplayer is pretty fun IMO it has somewhat of a RS matchmaking scheme and it makes for a very annoying and slow process in the worst case scenarios, but when it works you can end up finding awesome people to play with.

today I was still playing online, and not just because my code expired at 5 o clock, because it can get so pleasant to catch someone offguard and chainsaw them into 2 that it gets addictive and most of the maps are just the right size for it to be more strategic instead of just being offense, offense, offense.

In the other hand when playing online it can be frustrating to get lag and miss most of your shots, or my top nuance is when you just blow somebody's face with a shotgun and they seem excempt of pain just to walk right into your face and blow you the way they should have been. In this way it reminds me of the shotgun in Halo2,fyi.

I have to retract my previous statement.

I have been playing online for two days straight. I am having the most fun online than I have ever had. It is awesome. The battles are intense.. The game demands strategy and teamwork. I 'm not that good yet but I'm getting there fast. Hit me up if you want to get smoked.

Got the game, it's ****ING amazing. Graphically, unbeatable. The most engaging and unbelievable story and single player I have EVER seen in a game.

I had a shot at multiplayer, it seemed damn good. I need more time with it obviously, but the fact that the single player is too engaging for me to bother with the multiplayer atm is really saying something.

Honestly, I've probably been playing this in the last month that it's been out more than I played Halo 2. There aren't really any BIG glitches and the ones people know, nobody uses them. I know how to do them and so do numerous others but I haven't been glitched in one single game. The online is addicting, considering the multiple achievements you can get. Overall it's more of a squad based game than Halo 2. I know in Halo 2 it was easy to take 1-3 enemies out when they were all around you. In GoW, if you have 1-3 teammates around you, you better pray that you may take atleast 1-2 down. Overall, I truly think GoW is probably the most intense and spectacular online game atm and beats Halo 2's multiplayer by leaps and bounds.

I think Halo 2's multiplayer takes much more individual skill than GoW, in GoW basically everyone goes for the good weapons and hides behind stuff the whole match. In Halo 2 it takes percision and prediction to be able to take out somebody, it just felt like GoW was one of those games where you could master it in a couple of days where as in Halo 2 you can't really ever get "good" at the game because there is always a challenge and always something to get better at. I dunno, I just think that Halo 2 takes much more individual skill because you have to know the map well and you have to know how to throw grenades, it's not just a run and gun, GoW feels more like you sit behind a wall and shoot people, nothing to get good at really except for the sniper, anybody can pick up the assault rifle in GoW and be good with it because it's not hard to control.

Well let me burst everyones bubble here. These games don't require skill, what they require are good reflexes and playing the game for a long time. So having said that, GoW is intense, much more intense than Halo2. That is my appeal.

this is SO true. GoW is strategy (although in about half of the ranked matches i go into that is what my team seriously lacks), while Halo is run and gun, balls to the wall action. dont get me wrong, each has its points, obviously, but im a strategic man myself. plus it cant get any more gory than gears.

good reflexes isnt skill?

No it is having good coordination, quick reflexes, and a great knowledge of the game and how to play. Skill is a golfer, a baseball player, a hockey player, someone who cooks really well, things like that. Case in point my 5 year old son can whup my ass in Mario Party 5, because he plays it all the time. In any other game I'll wipe the floor with his ass!:hardcore:
