Ever wonder why Microsoft hasn't released an HDMI cable for the Xbox 360, or whether the AV port was really capable of digital out? Well, here's your answer: we landed pictures of what appears to be the second Xbox 360 -- the Xbox 360 v2, if you will -- codenamed Zephyr. (The original Xbox 360, if you recall, was codenamed Xenon.) The long rumored about and awaited update to the console won't just feature a new, cooler 65nm processor, it's also finally added an HDMI port for full digital 1080p pleasure, as well as a 120GB drive, just what the doctor ordered. The 120GB drive may or may not come bundled with the kit, we don't yet know, just as we also don't yet know how much a Zephyr 360 is going to run (we imagine it'll go for the same price as currently so they can keep up a little on their expanding margin). But our very kind Xbox insider seemed happy to let us know we'd be able to get them "soon."

That's some bull****. But hey, that's business and I should have expected that.

We all ponied up big bucks for version one, then they drop version 2 with a few better features? So when I get my plasma TV, I have to buy a new 360 to get the HDMI?

Please at least tell me that the 120gig drive will be a separate available add on.

I really dont care about the cooler processor. Mabey they will offer a HDD/120G drive package for anyone that already owns a 360.

I would care a lot more if I actually had an HDTV. Which I don't. And why exactly would you need 120 gigs of storage space? Seriously.

I play on my 60 inch HDTV with the inlcuded component cable in 720p and it looks fantastic. I don't think that the games are going to fully support 1080p to the point of making a drastic difference anytime soon. (The current 1080p options games are mostly garbage anyway).

I connect my HD satellite input via HDMI and there is a slighty noticeable difference between the image via compenet and HDMI.

In other words, don't let yourself get all worked up by this.

I would like a 120 gig hard drive however so I hope that I can buy it as an option.

Why didn't Mircosoft do this in the first place?

Please sell the 120GB seperately cuase that would be cool:trippin:.

if anyone doubts the 120GB HDD being sold seperately is either really retarded or just naive. There is a reason why the current 20GB HDD is DETACHABLE. The only question, as stated in the article, is if the 120 will be included with Zephyr. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and predict that this won't sell too well. I don't understand why MS would do this. They are basically saying "Yeah, we screwed up with Xenon, so we have to release our 'real' nex-gen system."

Hmm, guess I'll hold off on buying a 360 and wait for this version.

The 20gb hard-drive add-on is what? $100 or something... The 120gb will be a pretty penny.

Its 120 CAD so Im guessing it will be maybe 150-170. They wont change it by that much.

Why would anyone buy a 20gb one for $120 when you can get a 120gb hard-drive for $30-50 more? Unless they take the 20gb off the market all together.

Thats the way some thing work.

For example, today.... The Xbox Live Vision cam was 50 bucks, and the XBL 12 Month Package was 85. I would rather spend 35 dollars more, and get 12 months of live, 200 Microsoft points, 2 Arcade games, and the headset.

Its really weird the way things are bundled and priced.

Maybe it's priced that way for parents who don't know what the hell they're buying.

Is it really worth it? I'll just stick with my 360 i bought 2 weeks ago. Does image quality really matter that much? I don't think so. Just as long as the games are good I'm fine. So some people may use the 120gb for movies and stuff, just go buy it separately.

MS will most likely lower the price of the 20gb hdd.

There'll be next to no difference in performance, that's for sure.

MS might give an option of trading in yor v1 for a v2 just for a couple of bucks more. If thats the case i might just do that. Hey i want the best available xbox 360 console for a better game play even if it only improves by a little.

A cooler system means a quieter system, that along might be enough to drive me into upgrading (not to mention a next-gen dvd-rom that won't make so much noise).

HDMI? meh...I don't have a 1080p set, and only movies will be running 1080p this generation, so it's really not going to affect me.
The larger hard drive might come in handy, but I'm still bitter over the fact that we can't upgrade the hard-drive on our own using any 2.5" HD.

people shouldn't be complaining.. anyone who buys technology.. ANY type.. at ANY price.. and expects it never to be updated, is a mongoloid

I really don't see them doing that. Doesn't make any sense at all for them to do so. There is always going to be upgrades on the consoles and there always will be. Some changes are just bigger than others, for example Sony's PS2. It got smaller and they added a network card in it. Granted that was years after it launched but but MS and Sony have made many versions of their consoles with changing drives, memory and w/e they can to drive costs down and add features. I personally don't care if they launch a new 360. 720p is high-def enough for me, and 20g is enough hard drive space for me because I only download demos anyways and have all my music on my iPod.

This poses a problem for me because I waited to get a 360, and I really want to play the Halo 3 beta and I doubt the hardware updates will be out by then.
