ok i was wondering if you camcel you xbox live account, does that mean you lose your gamertag and you wont be able to use it again if you reactivate? and one more question, if you have a gamertag on your xbox live account and switch to a xbox 360 live account, do you get to keep your current gamertag or does xbox 360 have a different set of gamertags, so in turn you would need to mak a new gamertag on 360 live? the thing is that i was told by a an xbox customer service rep that when you cancel your account, your gamertag goes to the graveyard, then no one can use that gamertag. so, ive been paying the 5.99 every month for like 2 years now to keep my gamertag. was the xbox customer service rep lying to me just to make me keep my account?

You should keep your gamertag when you cancel because it just turns into a silver account (When it was just the xbox I think you did lose it), and the xbox and 360 use the same set of gamertags. Hope that helps

well its only a xbox live account because i haven't bought a 360 yet, so i guess i'll just have to keep payin until i get a 360. the worst thing is that i don't even have a xbox anymore...

when you get a 360 you can use the "recover gamertag" button on the xbox live menu and you should be able to port it over if your origional xbox live account is registered on xbox.com

yeah, that should work. Just register on Xbox.com, if you haven't already, I've seen quite a few people post on their forum with silver accounts that don't have 360's yet.
