I personally didnt find the game that impressive. Going from GoW to this reminds me of going from a great Steak House Steak to a Denny's Steak. While the Denny's Steak gets the job done it doesnt leave any good memory's. I think what hurts this game the most for me is no Co-Op. This would make it way more exciting for me. The online portion reminds me of Star Wars Battlefield. While not horriable there is something not right about it. I got no thrill from killing someone with my Pee shooter. Plus I found it really random, no reason to hold certain points because they just respawn in 5 secs. While chaos is good in video games , this kind of chaos online seemed pointless.

Another thing that bothered me about the main campaign was no sense of ergency. I got to this one level in a cave where alien bugs were all around me like a mass amount. Normally I would be excited because this would seem intense, but soon I realized I could let them just hit me without any recourse. I could just throw one gearnade blow up a colony and regain me health back and just casually stroll around.

The opening scene while impressive doesnt carry the story even GoW story seemed more in depth than here which isnt saying much. Graphiclly the game is impressive so many enemies on screen and no slow down. But graphics alone isnt enough. I would say GoW has raised the standard for 3rd person shooters, if this game came out before GoW I would not have this bais. My 2 cents, not for me but I would highly recommend a rental. Only good thing I have to say about my experiance would be Hollywood Video leaving in the free 48 hour xbox live code for me to grab the came with the game.

Thank you CheesePieceFace, for the well thought out review. Seeing as I don't rent games, I can't see myself ever buying this game, which is how I saw myself ever since I heard of this game.

First off things do hurt you if you play on normal and not easy. And im not even going
to step on the fact that your comparing GOW and LP. No URGENCY, Hmmm have you
even gotten to the part where you are surrounded by 9 monsters, or the part where you
are constantly bombarded with little people shooting at you as well as 6 VS's. I am sorry
but when some huge ass monster comes out of the ground and swallows you hole I think
there is a sense of URGENCY and HOLY CRAP I DIDNT EXPECT THAT!.

I did play on normal as is the default setting. I picked up the game and played roughly 5 hours of it and that was enough for me I wasnt impressed with the game. And comparing GoW and LP is perfectly fine because the were both very anticipated games for the 360 different games yes but I was merely sharing my experience. And the boss battles are teadious and annoying when you consentaly get knockedown or stunned in a corner by them. Obviously you like the game and thats fine but saying I didnt play it on normal or the right way or I didnt play it at all is a little defensive, like I said I wasnt impressed with it and I think it should be a rental for most because you will either like it or hate it type game.

Allow me to be the lone dissenter. You can't buy a game or not buy agame based on it's comparison to another game. Unless you are making a choice between the games. So if you have GoW and won't buy LP because it's not that good, you're missing out and cheating yourself. I am enjoying the game. It is not GoW nor was it meant to be a GoW killer. I don't even think it was over hyped, it's a very ggod game and I think the hype was indicative of that.

Okay, my own little mini-impressions/review for anyone and everyone to chew on:

Single Player I've only briefly touched on, completed the 1st level and part of the second. Difficulty wise, hard is hard enough, your thermal energy races down which leaves little time to take in the scenery or scavenge for weapons, whilst the AI is remarkably poor, there are times when the sheer volume of numbers more than makes up for their lack of aim. Crank it down to normal and you'll find beautiful graphics and level design.

Multiplayer, where I've spent most of my time, is awesome fun. Both on foot and in mech, the action is fast paced and varied. Levels range from mid-sized to HUGE and the level design is simply awesome. You'll drop your jaw at some sections and it's all pretty damn nice.

Control wise it's fine, a couple of things I'd change but no real issue with any of it. The typical slayer type match has an additional novelty of using beacon-type-things to draw thermal energy allowing you to use the mechs and powerful weapons. Reminded me of Rainbow Six Black Arrow Satellite type domination game. Grenades are novel, ranging from stun-nades to stickies to very cool frisbee nades.

All in all, not decided if this will have a long lifespan, but it sure is immediate fun. Certainly worth a rental if not a trade in. Single player will require further scrutiny.

He put down a 5 dollar preorder... I would have to pay for the rest of it. And it just sort of ticks me off that he would put down a preoder for a game that he ASSUMES I want, based on absolutely no evidence whatsoever.
