I can connect to Xbox live fine, did all of the setup by myself.

Linkysys Speedbooster wireless router connected to my modem and then the router connected to the comp running on dsl and of course im using the wireless xbox live adapter.

Problem is when I connect or disconnect it throws my dad off Everquest. What would cause this problem?

Also yesterday I was getting an error saying that two devices on my network were using the same IP even thou DHCP is enabled. But it still allowed me to connect. Could it be because their using the same IP and when I connect its throwing the other off? IDK im confused an my brains about to explode from the amount of hours I spent trying to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated with small farm animals or cheap hookers, your choice.

The problem is that your dad plays Everquest.

That would be my initial diagnosis, but upon further thought, you may be correct in your assumption that they are using the same IP. If you want to check, hook your Xbox (360 I'm assuming) up to XBL, go to the system tab, and if you push some buttons in a correct sequence, then you can eventually navigate your way to the connection settings list, and you can check your IP from there. Compare that to your computer's IP and report back. Please keep in mind that I generally fix things by smacking them, so take all I say with a grain of salt.
