I've had my xbox 360 for about 6 months now...I have a little over 50,000 gamer points...is there a way that I could use those points up for some free hours of xbox live. I've tried it already...doing a direct connection it detected the wired connection...but failed to retrieve the IP address...what is the best thing for me to do....My sister has the computer in her room..I have my 360 in another room and my sis. works 3rd shift so I bring my 360 into her room...unplug the dsl cable from behind the computer tower and plug it into the back of my 360...what Is the best thing that I need to do...I really appreciate it.

I would get a wireless router and Xbox 360 wireless network adapter (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360wirelessnetadapter/). I have the wireless network adapter for mine because my router is in another room, works great never had any problems with connection.
To answer your question, no you can not use gamerscore to get anything over Xbox Live or free hours of XBL. You have to buy Microsoft points to buy anything off the marketplace, for XBL gold you have to either buy a card for a year of XBL gold at any retailer that sells 360 games or sign up for XBL gold on your 360, you'll need a credit card to do that. Hope that helps.

Depending on how much your willing to spend you could buy a wireless router/modem *linksys* and the gaming receiver, it's pricey though... Though it is absolutely worth it all you need is the *i didn't set this up so don't take my instructions to heart always ask a professional* cable for the internet connected to the modem/router and that should be it... But again always consult an expert.
My only question is, how in the hell did you live six months without live?

The only time I have never had XBL, was when I didn't have a XBOX.
But, I know some people who have wireless. Normally no problems except when I am at my friends house, I can't connect to normally anyone on a wireless signal. The NAT is set on strict, and the linksys doesn't let me save the settings.
