The official housing for the legendary edition of Halo 3 (Master Cheif Helmet) is up for grabs on ebay.
The price right now is, possibly, even more ridiculous than the Halo 3 Elite.

God, I can't wait to see how many little MC's we'll have running around come October...

Don't these helmets come with the purchase of the Halo 3, Elite version? (I think that's what they call it...Legendary is the tin case and I think the Elite version comes with this handy dandy helmet for a cool price of $129.99).
If that's the case, I wonder why someone wouldn't just wait until September 25th to just get their own.
Personally, I just want the game, but, hey...that's just me.

The collector's edition is the one with the tin case and the legendary version is the one with the helmet. I don't think there will be an elite version. I'll probably just end up getting the regular game as well, I honestly don't care about all the bonus features I just want to play the game heh.

Ah! Thanks for the correction...I knew there was something going on... I preordered the Collector's Edition - the one with the tin case only because I have the Halo 2 tin case. Hey, it was only $10 more...
Maybe I'll get the chance to win Halo 3 like I did Halo 2...who knows?! :)

It does look like the same helmet that comes with the legendary version, can't see why someone would pay so much money for something that you'll be able to get for 129.99 in a few months. It might just be me, but when I buy collectibles I buy them at a price that I know I can get more for it later, if I ever decide to sell it, and I just don't see anyone paying anymore than that for a helmet that doesn't have any signatures on it.
Edit: I guess this isn't the one that comes with the legendary one so I guess I can see why it would go for higher than 129.99 but I don't see why anyone would pay anymore than 200.00 for it

To my understanding, the helmet that comes with the Legendary Edition is small - just a little bit bigger than a coffee mug.
Why would anyone want this stupid helmet? You can't even do anything with it besides stare at it.

You know, after a second look, I'm under that impression, too... I didn't notice any dimensions on the page, though....

No, the one that comes in the Legendary edition is a casing for the games that fit in like a clip style housing. Would fit a kid, BUT the inside isnt completely hollow, just the part where the games slide in.

Hmm...I didn't know that...I actually think the idea is pretty cool...not "$129.99 cool", but, cool nonetheless.

The casing where the games are held go INSIDE the helmet.
Look at these, you can see the base of the "ammo" holster:
