View Full Version : Disc tray getting stuck

OK, well I guess it was bound to happen. Have you guys heard of this problem I just started having?
The DVD-Drive tray gets stuck when the 360 is in the vertical position. When in the horizontal position, it works just fine. But when vertical, the tray makes an effort to come out, but fails to release, makes a click then recloses.
On the screen it will read Open Tray, Close tray, Reading Disc. Even though the tray never came out.

It doesn't matter if the original face plate is on, or my "carbon fiber" face plate.
Oh well, at least the system works. I guess I'll just keep the unit in the horizontal position.

Weird, haven't heard of that yet. Do a quick search on the official forums and see if anyone has said anything.

i remember this happening around release when the console would move from horizontal to vertical or vice versa the disc would get scratched really bad and the tray would not come out, i dont know why its happening to you though.

Mine too. EXACT same thing, but my 360 had other problems as well. Eventually got one red light and traded it up for the Elite. Best thing i ever did.

Ya-ya, this happened to a friend of mine, to... he just laid it down flat and everything was gravy. You should call support [1 800 4 My Xbox] and ask them how to fix it anyways... you shouldn't be forced to choose vertical or horizontal because of a manufacturing flaw.

Mine does that even if it's horizontal or vertical, eventually it just stopped opening all together, luckily I had no games inside it when it stopped opening. I called Microsoft like 3 days ago and they're sending a box to get it fixed. So I'm gonna get it repaired for free, and not mention after my tray stopped opening I started getting 3 red lights. So beware, because mine got all messed up after it started having that problem.

Meh, mine works just fine in either position, although my original xboxes both had that problem but it didn't occur for a while after purchase so....

Yeah the Wii doesn't really have any replay value. It's fun to play every once in a while though.

I think the fact that all the old classic Nintendo games (Ocarina, MarioKart, Donkey Kong Country) can be played is worth the price of admission.

Well, it works just fine in the horizontal position. I just wanted to stand it up vertical so it fits next to my Wii on the same shelf of my audio pier. Oh well.. its all good.

Thanks for the tips, guys.
