played he first few levels of single player just now, no multiplayer yet, but to be honest, I'm disappointed. I feel like I've played it all before, nothing new enough to keep me interested. It definitely is not as good as H1, maybe on par with H2, but probably still not as good as that. don't get me wrong, it's a fun game, but not as fun as a halo game should be.
Here's to hoping the multilayer doesn't suck

I don't know man.. I think its so much better than the last two games for the simple reason that the campatign levels are so damn big and not repetitive.
I remember several levels in Halo CE, like in Truth and Consequences and Keyes where I was totally lost because everything looked the same and it just felt like one long ass slog through the same corridor over and over again.
At the very most in Halo 3, you might have to run back through the same level to go back, but they rush you through on the way back.
Look, I'm no fanboy. If the game stinks, I'll say it, I don't care either way.
If there is anything wrong with this game its the fact that the Marines still can't really drive very well and the game still warps a player that falls behind directly in front of the lead player, so that if I shoot, I shoot him at that moment.

I think it is the single best game out right now. And I think there are some people out there who feel they just have to disagree with everyone else. I think you are one of these people.

I partially take back what I said, the game got much more fun after the first couple levels. I'm enjoying myself. it isn't too terribly different from the others, which I guess is a good thing, but I think they could have added some more new stuff.

Well, I'm at the very last level on Legendary by playing Co-op. I'm finding the game to be a lot better than Halo 2...WAAAAAAAAY better. There is much less emphasis on dual wielding, which I really love. The only thing that I haven't gotten good at is the X button and deciphering between what's in m inventory. I'm not used to the symbols yet...but, that will come with time, I'm sure.
The Sniper is a lot like Halo 1's sniper...there's no recoil and you can't shoot two shots in rapid succession (which is a very good thing). Also, I noticed that the hitboxes are a lot smaller compared to Halo 2, which is another very good thing.
The Carbine definitely got improved for the better, too. The Battle Rifle seems the same, too.
I'm also liking the idea of breaking off the turret to use.
Overall, this seems to me to be a true sequel to Halo 1. That's my next day reaction so far. I haven't played any multi-player other than goofing around with Forge for a little bit. I'm committing myself mainly to beating the Campaign.

I have absolutely no complaints. It's way better than Halo 1, it's way better than Halo 2. It has met my expectations by far. The game never lets go of you. It takes you on this last ride and it is some ride let me tell ya. I have done little to nothing but play this game, and I didn't play it only for the gameplay, but for the story which was comparable to some of the best action flicks right now. I feel so fortunate that I have been alive to be a part of history, a wonderful part of gaming history and a reason why our culture will forever be changed. Thanks Bungie.

I like it so far. Call of Duty 4 might beat this though.

I completely disagree...while I like the COD4 Beta, it's not nearly as immersing as Halo 3. But, like I said, it's my opinion.

For me once I messed around with the theater stuff , I thought to myself, Wow why hasn't this been implemented in a FPS a long time ago truly ground breaking. That fact that it makes watching someone else's gameplay footage exciting is good immersion factor for me. No longer are dedicated only to First Person view anymore, very cinematic.

I'll have to say I'm very happy with this game. Playing through on heroic (solo) has been a fun fight. I just finished chapter 5 (somehow, i never finished chapter 4?!?) and I've enjoyed every bit of it, even when I do stupid things and have to replay one section over alot.

I loved it, i finished it on heroic yesterday and I'm actually liking this better than Halo 1 and 2.
Everything that they promised to bring in 2 is here, some of the best stuff from 1 that wasnt in 2 is here, and theres a whole new element to the game with the new equipment and weapons you can use.

I'm only on like the 5th or 6th level on legendary because I couldn't go along any further with Variation and Maxi because of some lag issues for whatever reason, but what I've played so far is pretty much awesome. The multiplayer is better than it ever has been, there is no one weapon anymore that overpowers everything, they balanced the weapons amazingly well. I like all of the maps except 2 of them (construct and epitaph) which is far better than Halo 2 and Halo 1, I only liked 2 maps from each of those games. Overall I think this game is almost perfect, it has pretty much everything most people have wanted and I'm not disappointed at all.

i went through the same thing. i played a couple hours every nights, and the first few nights i was very "meh" about the whole thing. However, when the ****s really starts to hit the fan, the story, music, and gameplay shift into over drive and the game turns into one of the best campaigns out there. I mean, its no bioshock, but its damn fun.
