How do I kill the Scarob King?

Ok so I'm playing Halo 3 and have been and I got the point where we have to kill the Scarob King (spelling may be off) and they say to get on the back of the thing. How in the world do I do that?? I can't seem to get close enough to get on it's back and it doesn't bend down (that I've seen) to allow me to get on the back or even close to it. I've died so many times trying to get on the back and I've tried several different advantage points.

Has anyone else run into this problem? If so then how do I beat this thing?? Any suggestions or help would be very much appreciated !! Thanks. :)

Use a Ghost Ship and keep shooting at the legs. You'll see your crosshairs turn red and that means you're doing damage if you're shooting at it. Just, keep doing it...or you can use a Rocket Launcher or whatever...but, keep shooting the legs.

After he freezes, he'll bend down and you can jump on a ramp that is on the Scarab King. There is a ramp on each side of it. Jump on it, walk up the ramp - don't get killed by the boarded Covenant and walk around to the back. You'll see a bright pink area...shoot it like Rambo on crack...then make sure you get far enough away so you don't get killed by the massive explosion.

Yeah take his legs out. Someone in the battlefield will actually let you know that you can board him now. That's half the battle. After you board him then you have to.................

Yep...shoot the pink one! Right in the pink spot!

if its that giant thing with alot of legs, think high up. I just got above it and dropped down. I just randomly shot at it until the guy says something about armor being to thick, you need to get onboard it. (on heroic)

After blowing out a leg joint and the thing drops down, I found it easy to just board through the main troop area in the back, go up the ramp, go outside to the perimeter of the Scarab and walk around the outside of it back to the back of it, thats the way to the power source which you have to blow up in small stages to get it to overload and go haywire.

Believe me, at first it took me several trips around the thing to figure that out. Of course, the crew isn't just going to let you just waltz on board either.

I found it easier later on to use the Scorpion tank to blow out its knees and ankles and then drive myself to the back, use the tank to clear the landing area and go forth and slaughter.
