Well, in the latest Bungie update, it appears that Bungie invited about six San Francisco 49ers to the studios last Sunday Night since they were in town to play the Seahawks on Monday Night Football last Monday.

They were there to be a part of playing three new maps. One of them is described as being on par with "Blood Gulch"...a little smaller and the scenery looking much different, but, the overall "feel" was like Halo 1's Blood Gulch. It sounds sexy to me!

There are two other maps, too that seemed to not go into much detail.

Bungie stated that they are taking next week off...the entire Thanksgiving week. And they said that "big news" was going to be announced on November 19th. I'm assuming that this is the day that they are going to announce the details of how DLC is going to work.

Also, Matchmaking playlists are getting a tweak, including a new "Team Hardcore" matchmaking playlist coming soon! This gets me really excited! They said it won't quite be like Halo 2's Team Hardcore because Halo 3 plays different than Halo 3 (duh!), so, they are going to make Team Hardcore to suit Halo 3. I'm just stoked about no radar!!!

Sounds good but COD4 has me pre-occupied right now.

I just bought COD4...I have yet to have it delivered...I bought it from Amazon.com...should be here by Monday. (I was hoping today). And, eventhough I'm really pumped up about it, I really can't wait to see what these new maps are for Halo 3. I mean, Halo 3 desperately ...and I mean it is screaming for new maps.

Which means it ain't so hot of a game afterall if all people can do is whine for new maps.

I'm so over Halo.. even if the DLC is free I don't see myself downloading it.. COD4 is too good, and I was bored of Halo even before that dropped. If the DLC is even 1 MSP I'm not bothering.

I disagree...I think Halo 3 is a blast, but, here's the thing: a lot of the matchmaking playlists only have a handful of maps for each playlist. If they incorporated other maps into the existing playlists, it would be better. I just think that it's the matchmaking portion that seems the most limited.

Having additional maps will simply put more variety to the playlists...and hopefully they are good. Personally, I can't stand Snowbound or Isolation. I'll take Isolation over Snowbound because I can't stand the unnecessary screens in the underground portions of Snowbound. Epitaph kinda blows, too, for the same reason.

And COD4 rapes Halo 3 in this department. The maps in COD4 are outstanding, and so varied it's amazing. I hope Halo 3 gets new maps but it doesn't matter much because until I get tired of COD4, Halo3 won't see me for awhile.

Sweet! Except, that's my sister's birthday...we'll probably celebrate it the weekend before anyway, though, so, I'm all good :D

Great info, man... how much is 800 points from a cash standpoint? And, do you know how or if these maps are going to be incorporated into matchmaking right away?

EDIT:

Here's some pics of the new maps!

Roughly $10, so not that bad. The Map packs for Halo 2 if you bought em was about the same as well. I'm wondering if they'll do the same 'wait 6 months get it free' kinda thing.

Not sure about the matchmaking, cause what will happen if someone in your party has the maps and someone else doesnt?

From what I understand, there will be a "Heroic Team Slayer" mode and a "Team Slayer" mode. Both will go towards your Team Slayer rank, I guess. Same goes for other gametypes...this is my hunch, by the way, so, I'm not quite sure.

A person that doesn't have the maps won't be able to jump into the "Heroic Team Slayer" playlist, I guess. Personally, $10 is no big deal to me...but, it may to other people. I'm just glad to see that Bungie is incorporating these into Matchmaking unlike they did with Halo 2's new maps (they did once they were free, though). I want to play with my new toys now! :D

They will be free some time next year. I can't wait that long though.

Dude...exactly. I mean, it's ten freakin' dollars... The way I see it, why wouldn't people pay it? People already pay for internet access every month...many of which only have it for XBox Live...what's 10 bucks for additional content? I won't hesitate!

You could say the same argument for MMO's which I know you don't "agree" with you know.

But anyways, I'll probably see how many of my friends pick up the maps, if the majority I'll probably do it as well, if not I have MANY other games to play until they become free (if ever)

Many people spend more money than they make already, another 10 bucks is another 10 dollars in the hole for those people who don't financially plan.

Honestly, if an MMO releases new content, then, I see no problem for paying for it. But, just to play the game and pay a monthly fee seems ridiculous to me.

You think that mmo's dont constantly update or add new things or something? That's part of the fee, that you are constantly getting new things/quest/areas/etc. But this is a completely different topic.

Looks great, except for Rat's Nest

I wonder what the comparison would be for employees at Blizz maintaining a game like WoW to Bungie maintaining halo 3.

$10 is nothing for some new maps. Whatever it sucks that they're not free like the first gears map pack, but I love halo, so I'll pay it straight away.
