It's relisted again as the highest bidder said that they were going to pick it up and pay cash on collection. but when i phoned her up to arrange pick up she said that she wouldn't be able to pay for a little while, so I cut her loose and relisted.

Which is why i'm being very careful about who i sell to now. I've already turned down a very large offer because I had a bad feeling about the buyer.

I made Gears plates and Epic shut them down because I didn't license them. That's an entirely different matter than this. If you have a code that you can't unload, and you list it just so people who want it can find it, so what if you get a thousand dollars for it? I have two codes I've literally been unable to give away. Everyone who wants one has one. They were VERY liberal with them. But I bet if I put it up on eBay for .99 Buy It Now, someone who hasn't been able to get one would be delighted.

I have a regular saved search that I use that eliminated results that include guitar, controller and a couple of others. Once in a while I run the search a second time and take all of those restrictions out. That's what I did two nights ago when I found this. It had only been posted for about an hour, and it had a $200 starting bid and $300 Buy It Now. It was like the planets were in line: I did the odd search, it had just been posted, it had a buy it now, and I had the money in my account.

The guy selling it is a product manager for Xbox and was probably involved in their original prototype creation for Microsoft. There are a couple on there that I can't make out from the picture and a couple I know for a face I've never seen before so I'm dying to see what finally arrives.

I emailed him and asked him to double wrap them in bubbles and I'd pay the extra if necessary, so he's taking an extra day to do that. I"ll get better individual pics once they show up.

When he called this the motherlode though, he wasn't kidding.

I spent some of my E3 money to get these, so some of the plates that are duplicates of plates I already own will be re-listed so I'm not going to E3 broke.

worst thing he/she could've made was take the orig listing down and hike it up to $30 first bid. it is odd, but bidders end up placing higher bids on stuff that starts low because they have the feeling they are losing on a "bargain" yet bid higher than really intended to :confused:

I made stencils for making those plates. Mine were wither orange on black or black on orange, or metallic black on black with light blue details. I never made this one.

I made stencils for making those plates. Mine were wither orange on black or black on orange, or metallic black on black with light blue details. I never made this one.

These are two plates that I had custom printed and then got autographed by the two actors. This isn't my auction. I just wanted to verify their authenticity.

Hey, all.

Been kinda quiet lately. Faceplates have slowed down because of the new console. I'm still going to CSUB full time, plus I started a campus organization called "Campus Gamers". We've been doing midnight opening events and a community library event. We have an education and gaming symposium coming up next spring. CSUB and Campus Gamers are taking a huge amount of my time. My site, Kinecticon, has been mostly ignored because of other things consuming my time.

Anyway, CSUB is out for the year. There's no club stuff until January, except things I need to do to keep the symposium happening. I need to give my site some TLC. But, once Thanksgiving weekend is over, I'm going to try to add some more faceplates to the database. I have quite a few left to add. Once they're in, I'll ask if anyone knows of one that didn't make it, and I'll add those, too.

The NFS Pro Street plates were changing hands left and right for $100 for a while. This is half that. There are only supposed to me 100 of them. I think it's a good price. (I wouldn't sell mine for that cheap.)

"Fake E3" is really just "Asian Knockoff." Microsoft's marketing used those green circles for everything, so it has them in common with the E3 plate, but since it doesn't also have the wording, I wouldn't call it a bootleg or a "fake E3." It's true that there are probably fewer of those than the 5,000 E3 plates made by Microsoft, but the reason for the interest in the E3 plates is because they are the faceplates best known by the largest number of people. It was the first non-white plate seen widely by the public so when people think of non-standard plates, it's the one they think of. Since it's "official", that increases its demand, too.

Unless you could get the Asian plate dirt cheap, I wouldn't do it.

Yeah, I really want that '08 faceplate. I thought someone on the XBLA "Gameroom" team was going to try to get one for me, but I never heard anything back. I "watched" the auction, but I already had to pass on another plate I wanted really badly. Plates are showing up left and right and I don't have the $ to get all the ones I want.

Mine is also in better condition than the first guy's - his was "used", mine has never been placed on an Xbox, let alone out of the package. And just because there was ONE sold lately for cheaper doesn't mean mine is worth only that amount - there's not too many of these period.

The amount of people "using" the old style Xbox 360 who might be looking for a plate is shrinking. The number of collectors is shrinking. As people sell stuff off, demand is satisfied and prices drop. So yes, things are much cheaper than they were last year. There's still no problem with asking for what you want, and if you don't get it, drop the price later. In the case of the 2008, I'd pay $100 for it. I just don't have it right now.

This is the "Fuego" faceplate from Microsoft. Here's the thing. I think this is a stock photo. the one the guy is selling might be thins one, in which case it's a crazy steal. Or, it might be the Asian knockoff. The MSFT plate has a black USB door and the thin lines around the flames. The Asian knockoff has the flames printed on the USB door and no thin lines - only the flames.

I would contact them to make sure which version they're actually selling. It's a reasonable price even for the knockoff, but it's a crazy low price if it's one of the MSFT plates. They were never available for sale, so it's either a prototype that was at a show, or maybe this is the manufacturer of the original plate.
