Since both of these games have single and multi-player, I was wondering what everyone thinks is the better game. Personally, I like CoD4 better because you don't have all these dang 9 year olds making all those stupid noises the whole match. The weapon choice on CoD4 is also better.

COD4 appeals to me more. The whole idea of modern warfare is captured well by the team at Infinity Ward.

Halo 3 has it's good moments like with vehicle combat and so forth and I appreciate what the entire Halo franchise has done for console FPS gaming. Plus the story is pretty neat too.
However I really like COD4 because I'm a fan of modern combat games. The action feels faster on COD4, you're not waiting 30 seconds for your flying body to stop flopping around like in Halo 3 and theres no super power weapons to race to so you can control a part of the map.
I'll still play Halo 3, it can be fun with friends but I'll always pick COD4 first.

Halo 3 isnt a terrible game, but as said its community is extremely juvenile including many of the adults that play. But I would have to say that COD4 blows Halo 3 out of the water in gameplay online as well. I enjoy playing Halo 3 from time to time too, but if I had to choose only 1 it would definitely be COD4.

Halo 3 has its goods and bads. And Call of Duty 4 does to. They even out pretty well. Look at them this way, Halo 3 has an awesome story line you can really get into, but its online experience really blows.. Call of duty 4's online experience is amazing, but its campaign/story line isn't that exciting... I think they even out pretty good.

That sums it up pretty well for me too.

COD4 maps are amazing. The only one I don't like is pipeline. The one I love is Bog.

Yeah the maps in COD4 are definitely amazing and I cant wait to see what they come up with on the DLC side. I'll gladly pay for them unlike Halo 3.

One thing I don't understand though is the maps on CoD4. There are many more when you play on Xbox Live but not when you play splitscreen. There are only about 8 maps for splitscreen. I can think of about four more for Xbox Live.

Thankfully splitscreen was not at the top of the priority list when they were making COD4. Not sure why the exclusion of maps, but it doesnt bother me cause I cant stand playing split screen to begin with...LOL!

cod 4 is amazing u still get little 9 year olds who scream and cuss at you as in halo i like cod 4 better because there is a wider weapon choise and u dont have to run around the map to get those weapons also i like that the snipers are camoflouged in gillie suits and i like the perks those help alot unlike in halo u just start go fight over a weapon and get killed by people driving around in vehicles i still love halo but i will pick cod 4 first if it working that is

The weapons in halo 3 are so cheap because they are perfectly steady (sniper rifle) and presents almost no challenge to sniping. You cant customize or choose your weapons either.

For me id have to say COD 4 i like the realistic movements that they have when running. Plus the kids are annoying on halo 3
still fun to play with buddies though if u can keep the kids out:hardcore:

With Halo you are part of a universe. CoD4 is the best modern day war game ever but it just into Halo. It just doesn't have it's richness.

Most of you probably know that I'm basically a Halo fanatic and would think I would pick Halo, but I'm going to say COD4 > H3.
Halo 3's competitive game is what keeps me going in Halo, but it's just not as fun as it used to be, where as in COD4 I actually have fun. COD4 is more fun than Halo but Halo is more competitive than COD4. I love competition and all, I'm actually going to tournaments now, but I would rather have fun in a game than be competitive.
Fatbox, I agreed with you up until your very last statement:
but I would rather have fun in a game than be competitive. Although, I somehow agree with it in a way. I have fun by winning and being competitive. I can't have fun in a game unless it's in competitive nature. So, I guess I just have fun in games a different way than you...It's sorta like the competition and fun come hand in hand for me.

Well I guess I kind of worded it wrong, I love competition, I love going to tournaments and I especially love winning and that's the main reason why I love Halo. But it just seems like the gameplay in COD4 is more fun than the gameplay in H3, but the competition in COD4 seems to be lacking.

I like Halo 3's multiplayer/online feature better than Call of Duty 4. I played CoD4 online last night and didn't like it that much.
However, I chose Call of Duty 4's single player over Halo 3.

I was never into any of the Halo games. Halo 3 was the first I played and I played that for the first time about 2 and a half weeks ago. I've been into Duty pretty much since it came out and I love it. Having gone through the campaign on Veteran though wore me out from the game and I've taken a break from it for a few days. So as of now, Halo 3 is my game. It's completely different for me though playing Halo. The weapons, the maps and the skill it takes to play as well. I still get the controls mixed up and have it fixed in my head sometimes that I can pull out my knife or go into Last Stand mode. Can only get better though right?

CoD4 no contest if you want something for you and your friends to sit around and get high while playing then go with HALO...but if you want a jawdropping realistic action-packed perfect wartime shooter COD is the game for you.
the difference between HALO and CoD4 is that halo is a "great" game but Call of Duty is a amazing Experience:p

I dunno, it's pretty confusing for me. I've never played Call of Duty 4 online (I'm getting it today to play it), but I've heard amazing things about it. I've actually played Halo 3 online and it was pretty fun, it was groundbreaking for me. I had been playing Halo 2 for three months online up until that point and when I FINALLY GOT HALO 3 it was like the Second Coming or something. I could just sit there for hours and play it reverently. It was awesome. We'll just have to see if COD4 measures up . . .

I flip-flop between the two.
It's whatever I'm in the mood for.
Recently, I'd choose Halo.

What are you talking about?
Halo 3 is so realistic.
I know if I were a superhuman
bread to kill, I'd have no problem
running or holding a sniper rifle.

CoD4 does have less "stupid noise" makers, but they are everywhere. I usually just go private chat if I am gaming with a buddy. If not then I just lower the volume on my headset, thus allowing me to still talk smack to those who can not pull their own weight!
Since I bought CoD4 I haven't touched H3. Even with the new maps coming for H3, I still don't plan on playing it.

Ok my answer to this is going to be very akward. I think COD4 is better at certain things while Halo is better at others. I feel like you can just tell that Bungie knew what they were doing when they made the FEATURES for this game. Theater, Forge, Custom Games, Matchmaking, Ranking, etc. I feel like Halo couldn't really change their gameplay much which gave COD a chance to take them out in the gameplay aspect and that is what they did. COD4 is good for gameplay, maps, and originality. I just feel like they could have made COD4 the best FPS that ever graced the Xbox but they fell short. The one thing that drives me crazy is that you can't make a custom game. They just didn't make it customizable enough. I have to say that Halo has made a better all around game. I feel like I can have more fun with friends playing Halo. While if I want to get engulfed in a game with great gameplay but pretty much play alone, I will take COD. So my choice is Halo as the overall game winner.

Ya know, I've got both games... Hell, I even have CoD4 on PC. So here's where I stand...
Call of Duty 4:
Great gameplay, online and offline
Decent single-player (primer for online, primarily)
Great community
Great experience system(weapon unlocking and customization)
Halo 3
Great gameplay, online and offline
A pretty compelling offline story(more attached to the lead character)
Decent community, albeit a little juvenile at times...
Call of Duty 4 is a great example of a single-player game teaching you to play the multi-player. However, in Halo 3, you have to play a completely different game style, which kind of invalidates alot of what you learn while playing single-player. Not so much in a bad way, mind you, but it's almost like the single-player and the multi-player could be two different games. CoD4 jumps that hurdle particularly well, though, allowing you to use similar tactics in both single- and multi-player games as the strategies used in one aren't completely out-of-kilter with the other.
In the end, for me, the CoD experience is just more fun and interesting. While playing the game, and starting over again (damn you, PC version), I realized how much of an impact experience-gained weapons can have on a game. That is why building experience is more than just a way to get better superficial armors.
So, in the end, I've got to go with Call of Duty 4 over Halo 3. Don't let this review/opinion-piece fool you; I think Halo 3 is a great game and I won't soon be getting rid of it. But as good as it is, I think Call of Duty edges it in the end.

Halo 3 hands down, COD4 is too easy. Halo 2 > All, though :(

I've never been a huge fan of halo 3 and I used to rock to CoD2 until the map packs came out for it at which that time, I could not afford, so I ended up stopping my playing on cod2. CoD4 is my choice, I like the customizing features halo has to offer, but to me, the gameplay's not fun, it doesn't piss me off in the same way cod4 does. In CoD4 you get pissed off how you get killed and when you get killed. In Halo 3 you get pissed off because you know you hit that other ****er first but you get killed instead, or at least, that's what pisses me off.
