View Full Version : Is Lost Odyssey too difficult?

I'm starting to think Lost Odyssey may be way too difficult to be truly enjoyable. Too many back-to-back boss fights and not enough balance when it comes to battles.

LVL 50 start of disc 2 ;)
EAAAASY
But yes, before leveling, some of the battles were pretty brutal and disheartening

While a few of the fights may have been frustrating, I think its fairly well balanced as well. As long as you have the characters equipped properly with the right skills, rings, etc...you should be able to breeze through the fights once you have a strategy down.
The only one that took me a bit was the magic energy snake, which was brutal at first. Came up with a system, and figured out how to take it down fairly quickly without to much damage.
Also, when you do have these close together boss battles, there is usually a blue orb to gain back HP/MP or a way to boost your leveling a little in the vicinity.

Did everyone enjoy this game? I was thinking about picking it up.

If you enjoy the old Final Fantasy style RPG from 10 years ago, then you will enjoy this title. Its got a great story, definitely a lot of cut scenes as mentioned, but they are very well done and are worth watching. (Except the dream sequences)
But if you are not into turn based RPG's then this would not be for you. I have been loving it.

That's the thing Cougar. I am "very much" into turn-based RPGs. I loved FFIX; I just don't like Lost Odyssey that much as of right now.
Maybe I need to get past the first disc. :)

Story picks up near the end of disc 1 and starts going in a direction from there on.

Yeah, as Variation said, the story really picks up pace once moving onto disc 2. A lot more action too.

If I can just get past disc 1 I am pretty sure I'll start to enjoy it.

How do you feel about Lost Odyssey since you last posted in this thread? I agree with everyone else on LO. I was honestly ready to retire this game 2-3hours into the game due to excessive bordom. It took forever for this game to get into it's groove. This game is the equivelant of Batman Begins. Took eternity for the story to make a move, and once it did I was hooked!
I almost came to tears near the end of Disc1. I won't spoil it, but those whom have made it to Disc2 know what I mean.
The Story is turning out great. The voice acting, animation/emotion of the characters are outstanding (especially this kids). They all have personality, and you begin to feel for the characters. The only downer is those awful Dreams.
that aside I think you will love this game if you stick with it a little bit longer.
If you get stuck somewhere (which I cant imagine how) you can always check out www.gamefaq.com for tips.
BTW, Jansen carried this game on Disc1 without a doubt!

Completely agree. Would have been way too cut and dry if it wasn't for him.
Btw, put the glasses on him for a laugh

You know wat, I did that to Kaime by mistake not knowing they would actually have glasses on. I thought it was part of the story line until I gave dem to the chick by mistake and noticed it was not! :D
If there is a 2008 Award for funniest character it has to be Jansen. That dude is funny as hell! Hilarious to say the least. Only thing I dont like about him is his design. I mean, he looks g-ay! And his attire is lame. But his personality wins over! I need to get back into this game ASAP! After finishing Disc1 I havent played it in like a week. Im off work today so I should make some time since I plan to relax today and chill until my friend comes over with that new Sega All Stars Tennis game she is so excited to buy for me today. lol!
