Some of you have probably seen this:

http://www.kotaku.com/images/2006/04/customcroft360.jpg

Gamerscoreblog lists its value at $11,000, with 43,000 crystals on it. I can believe it. 10 gross, or 1,440 crystals, cost about $40. That means there's roughly $1,200 in crystals on this mutha/ And obviously, a crapload of labor. It was custom designed for Eidos, and Eidos and Microsoft worked together to make it happen.

So here's the question. Two questions, actually:

1) Forgetting the crystal part, but if you were going to do up a whole case (I'm assuming only one SIDE of the case, the top side) in any art medium, what would you put on it?

2) If you WERE going to do a whole side in crystals, and faceplate too obviously, what would you do?

My answer to both is this:

Wouldn't you rather see the front, or is walking INTO the flames the whole idea?

I like the idea. On one side of the case, he could have the back - then the other - the front. Genius.

Well, what started this was that I won a case last night. $19.99, shipped, OEM. I have an Xbox case that has the DOAXBV skin on it. I won't want to decorate my working boxes for obvious reasons, but...

I could decorate an empty box and keep it, or...

I could decorate a NEW console and sell it.

No point in decorating a new console and keeping it, but not using it. OF course, your warranty is going to tick away whether you're using it or not, so you might as well be using it. In the end, you'll just end up with a working decorated box or an unworking decorated box. Might as well spend twenty whole dollars and just get a case.

Not a bad idea... now are you going to painfully attach the crystals over your DOAXBV skin? Because that would beat the crap out of the Eidos box. ;)
And to answer your question, it would be cooler to have him walking out of the fire - however in the scene he's just standing in the middle of it and then walks away. Someone with a lot more talent than I would have to create it from scratch.
