It's too much if you have to let a bill go unpaid to have the money.
It's too much if you have to borrow the money or go into debt to get it (credit card, friend - whatever - and yeah, I've done that).
It's too much if you're going to stress out about spending that much money.

If you can't drop the money with a clear conscience, then it's too much money. Making a sacrifice to get a plate you really want is one thing, but sacrificing necessities makes it an addiction and you need to not be doing it.
