Since there is no XboxAddict.com discussion thread. And I felt this didn't really belong in a off-topic section either.

I wanna know if you guys could help XboxAddict.com...here's what we need. We need to boost our Alexa.com rating. Why? Publishers look at this crazy ranking system, and judge us on it. Thus, we are getting less stuff to review.

I found a few places on google on how to do this. But nothing has really caught my eye.

Any ideas?
Kam

As Ballintology grows, so will XBA.

so basically you are looking for ways to increase site traffic. Other than contests, I don't have any great ideas at the moment. Although I must admit I would love to see trivia brought back :( I miss it.

I wonder if some people stay away because of the woman at the top of the screen, like people at work that would get in trouble for it? I dont know. Maybe just get the site more known on social websites like myspace and facebook or something.

I completely agree with the woman on top of the screen part. It makes the site NSFW, and is just really unnecessary. Having a Myspace or a facebook group wouldn't hurt either.

While I like the nurse, I'm going to have to agree with the comments made about her... Maybe it's time for a reskin on the site. I also think a myspace/facebook angle would be good...

I also agree with Rhiannon that the contests are always good... And advertising them on a Myspace/Facebook might increase traffic as well. You might consider a monthly contest with very specific time frames. You know, contest info comes out between 1st-5th of the month, contest runs from the 6th-25th. Judging occurs between 26th-29th. Winners announced 30th-31st. That keeps people coming back rather than just stopping in and signing up for a single contest.

You could offer everything from faceplates to games/points to movie passes to peripherals such as controller chargers to well talked about movies from the Entertainment forums. Hell, you could take the review copies of games, have the XBA staff sign them and use them for prizes. That would also help people get the word out about the site.

Ciao,
Dozer

I dont think a Re-Skin, but to be able to change the skin would be cool.

Time to retire the nurse.

Start giving stuff away. Seriously, when was the last time we had a contest?

A Myspace and Facebook profile with somebody actively adding and searching for Xbox people.

The ability to have a mobile friendly version of the news page?

Podcasts about the latest news and reviews.

What the hell happened to the interviews? When I was doing them we they were happening pretty often.

Get on eBay and sell custom made faceplates and pimp our website from the ebay store.

Besides churning up some xbox related porn, which I know is a little far fetched... but a completely honest proposal.

as we've grown, so has the site. The removal of the nurse may attract more female and younger members as well as the work crowd.

Give the nurse a little more distinction, a suit... a shirt, a tie... make her a little older. we can attract some womans rights groups while we're at it.

please remove the nurse put something more xbox related, and addict related why don’t we have a design of a syringe with green fluid, flowing in it and at the top a lil bottle of liquid medicine that says xbox addict..

The nurse is symbolic to the ADDICT / ASSYLUM theme.

From what I see, just about everyone disagreed.

Sam, I see what you're saying. But Kam was asking for suggestions and it seems like, based on the overwhelming response, the Nurse should go. It also sounds like most people would welcome a Myspace/Facebook page that was regularly updated.

There are tons of ways to keep the asylum theme going without requiring a suggestive woman atop every page. Why not throw a lunatic with an XBox controller up there.

Nono, I agree with you. I was just pointing out that she did in fact have a purposeful position in the design, rather than being there for an excuse for big knockers.
