Hello everyone, I'm new to the XBA forums and I hope to get some advice and help from the members of this forum on a problem I have. I've had my Xbox 360 since November 2007, and until recently, my wireless Xbox 360 controller has been turning off randomly. I've checked the batteries and that's not the problem. When I play Games like Gears Of War or the Bad Company Demo, it turns off and I have to turn it back on. I tried taping it down because it seems as if the battery case is kind of loose, yet that doesn't solve the problem. When I'm not playing on Xbox Live, I've actually shaked the controller vigoriously to see if it would turn off and nothing happens. Please any help is appreciated, I'm even considering opening the controller to check it out, but I don't want to mess with that until I get some advice from the forum members.

How far do you sit away from your box?
Is there anything directly infront of you, or between you and the box?

Are you using anything else that is bluetooth enabled ? Cell phones and wireless earpieces can foul the signal. Possibly even a neighbor close enough to foul it. My neighbor below me has caused mine occassionally to disconnect or re-sync it.

I sit about 2-3 feet away from it. The problem has been occurring recently, I don't know anything about signal disrupting the controller. But my brother's controller works perfectly when we play together, mines is the only one turning off every time. I keep my cool most of the time, but it's really pissing me off that I lose matches because of a faulty controller. Is there a way to get a new controller either than buying it or getting this one fixed?

Dead batteries. If it's a recharge pack, plug in play and charge cord, turn on system, and then turn off system after it boots and let it charge till the fans on the system go off. I had one I got off Ebay do this too me, also, try swapping the batt pack to another controller and see if it does it in the other one.

Ohh, I haven't thought of switching the battery packs with my other controller. I'll try that, thanks wicked_d365. Maybe that'll tell me if the controller is faulty or the battery pack.

Damn, I still have the problem no matter what. I think a neighbor probably got a new device that's disrupts my controller's signal, is there anyway to stop this? Can I buy a wired controller and it'll stop?

I would think so.

Thats weird, i use my bluetooth for my phone all the time while playing, and my friend plays Wii no more than 5 feet away from me, while playing 360, and he also uses his bluetooth, along with my neighbors, and never had this prob.

Sounds like your batt pack might be bad, you can pick up a used one at gamewhore for about 15 bucks, for a MS one, cheaper on ebay or off brands.

If you get a wired, then yea, you won't have any problems worst case scenario

bluetooth doesnt interfere with the 360 wireless signals at all...

It just sounds like your controller is a bit janky to me. Have you tried resyncing the connection by pressing the sync button on the controller and the box?
