Gears of War sucked online. I couldn't for more than an hour, tops, without turning it off. The community was filled with a bunch of 12 yr. olds who should never have been on mics. (exactly like Halo 3) and nobody played the game how it's supposed to be played. Every online game would end in some shotgun/chainsaw war somewhere on the map. I know this is not the fault of the developers, as they can't be blamed for 12 yr. olds having the attention spans of fruit flies and not playing strategic.

No offense, but it shouldn't take a sequel to correct MP errors... that is called testing, and it should have been corrected before the first game ever hit shelves, that way they could concentrate on making a totally new experience, and not just Gears 1.5.

I've never even played Gears, But I'll probably rent GOW 2 to see if I like it.

The single-player isn't too bad. It's a bit shallow, but it's fun. If you can picture the guys from the movie 'Predator' and toss them into the Gears storyline, well there ya go.

And of course, the game is gorgeous.

Then they should stop doing yearly sports games as well and hold off a few years making one really good one, rather than small updates every year that usually aren't even worth rebuying for.

Exactly. I used to be one of the biggest Madden fans around. I was like those guys in that stupid show on ESPN, kicking everyone's ass at the game. Then I came to the realization (which is embarrassing that it took that long), that paying $60 for one, crappy new feature every year and new rosters wasn't worth it. For instance, I think '04 was the last good, new Madden game I remember. Since then:

'05: We got the Hit Stick. yea, I used that about 5 times and then I got sick of watching my buddies run past me and score touchdowns because they broke the tackle anyways. Lame. Oh and who could forget the horrid, "Tony Bruno" radio show thing?

'06: Cone Vision passing......worst new feature in the history of sports games. That got turned off in about 5 min. Superstar mode makes an appearance and blows.

'07: Oh I get to play as a lead blocker?!!! YES!! I mean, no that actually was very boring and sucked. And Superstar mode still blows.

'08: I get little icons telling me things I already know because I love football. For example, "Torry Holt has good hands", so let's give him an icon showing that. You mean Ladanian Tomlinson is quick?!!! No way!! And why the hell does the owner mode play the same as it has for the last 4 yrs?!! To top it off, apparently EA has decided that they are never going to update the Xbox 360 graphics engine, so not only does the game PLAY the same as it has for years, it LOOKS the same as well.

And I love that it took EA like 3 yrs. to get us MOST of the same features (but, not all) that they have had on the original Xbox for a long time and then have the nerve to charge us an extra $10 for it. :bang:
