video error help

Hi

when ever i try to play a avi file on my xbox 360 media center i get this. files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. please restart widows media center or restart the computer. did restart the pc and media center with no luck can anyone please tell me how to fixes this?

What file type you trying to play?

If it's DivX or Xvid then it won't work thru media center. You need to just play it from the videos section of the xbox.

WMV files should play no problem.

I know it's weird. You'll need to install Windows Media Player 11 or another media server program and watch stuff thru that.

What Kam said though, if it's Divx, you can't do it through Media Center.
