I had this game when it came out and couldn't get into it. I traded Alone in the Dark at Blockbuster today and saw Bioshock for $24.99 new. I bought it.
I started playing it and I can't believe I wasn't into it the first time around. The graphics, controls, story, weapons, all perfect. I can't wait to fire it up tonight with the lights off.
What a thrilling game.

BioShock is a great game, I really never got into it either. I started playing to many other games that came out around the same time. I need to get back into playing BioShock too.

well not to jump on the opposite side, but as :good: as a game that bioshock was, it was nowhere near the praise it recieves, much like GTA4
I felt bioshock was ridiculous to come out as a single campaign only in a day and age that everything has multiplyer online now, even open world games. I bought this game when it came out b/c of the reviews, and i got maybe 2 hours in or so, and i sold it back after that losing a straight nearly $40 on the deal
I dunno i couldnt play that over any other FPS i have, and that to me says alot, that if i have older games that got slightly less praise on the score charts or even much lower, but are more fun to date, i think that bioshock took a few wrong turns.

I gave up on it early too. For me it was a big mistake. Killing enemies with bees, freezing them, lighting them on fire never gets old. Big Daddy is an awesome Boss battle. My wife never looks when I'm playing but when she heard that whale like sound mixed with a tearing girder (that what the sound is a mix of) she turned to look at the game and asked who that creature was. Superb game. SP makes up for lack of MP.

Personally I think BioShock is a great SP Game... Being able to use your plasmids in combination with your weapons is great and gives you multiple ways to take out your enemies. Not to mention the twist to the whole story line with Ryan.
The Big Daddys are a great enemy to face, and you've gotta love the way as soon as you initialize an dattack the way they try to run you down like a freight train. The whole undewater world draws you into Rapture. The enviroment with it's old rustic look the suttle music playing in the background and always interesting to hear what the Splicers have to say, especially when you walk up on them without being heard.
I wish there were a few more games with an elaborate SP like BioShock and not something watered down because of more emphasis on the MP and I don't think that this game could even be compared to GTAIV being that they're completely different. I've played through BioShock, but yet to finish GTAIV cause I got bored with it.

Bioshock is one of the best games on 360. The graphics, the story, the weapons. I beat it once, before my roommate, so he deleted my old gamertag, luckily it wasn't a Live account. I need to grab a copy for my collection now that it's down. Great game.

i knew i would get drowned out in this, but like everything from art to games and so on it is pure opinions that make each verdict. I didnt say the game was like GTA4 in that it was actually like GTA4...i sed it was like the rating that GTA4 got...they were both rated verrrrrrrrrry high, and i you are going to stress the single player aspect in a game and not include multiplayer when xbox's slogan seems to be play together...well

For atmosphere, story, art design, and gameplay, BioShock is one of the best of the best. It had a very nice length, and was sufficiently creepy and disturbing to make it difficult for some to progress (a good friend and my brother both stopped playing at one time or another because the game freaked them out so much. Thankfully I was around to urge them to continue.). The fantastic twist near the end of the game, as well as the moments surrounding it, are some of my favorite bits of gaming ever. And extremely well done game, and I'm one of the few who seemed to love the ending(s) as well.
I very much hope they don't screw up the sequel/prequel. This is an IP that deserves serious love and attention to detail.

It's a though joice for me to pick between Bioshock and Mass Effect, I love both a LOT. Bioshcok has sometghing tha I really love: that old cushy 30's architecture, it's soooo gorgeous! Just like Gotham City underwater hehehe. And it's kinda tense as well.

Bioshock provided gamers w/ such an innovative and groundbreaking new experience that it took the 360 by storm and won it the rightfull title of game of the year. If FPS are your thing, then thats fine, thats your opinion, however, if FPS are ONLY what you play then you are denying yourself one of the games that is easily a system seller and one that will stand the test of time.
Bioshock beats any FPS hands down w/ a storyline that is phenominal and graphics and sound that are hard pressed to be found on any other title. GTA4 got 10's which was B.S. in my eyes, but Bioshock b/c of its innovative storyline, graphics, sound, and gameplay deserved every 10 it got from reviewers. Try not to be too narrow minded when figuring out what games to buy, just b/c you may be biased on some games means that you may miss out on some of the best the 360 has to offer.

That can be hard, though. Some people spend a lot of money to play games online, competitively. It's nice to see games like BioShock get tons of attention, though. Single player driven games are rarely so good.
The only game I can think of that gives BioShock a run for it's money in the SP department on the 360 is Dead Space. Both games are intense and fully realized masterpieces. When you're done playing a game, and you're still asking questions about the story, enough so that you just want to play it more, you've experienced a winner.
