Ive had a play and charge kit for my 360 for a while now. A couple months ago it just stopped working right. When I have the play and charge kit plugged into the controller, I can use the controller and it works fine. However, after i unplug it and try to use the controller wirelessly, it just shuts off. I even left it on all night to charge and still nothing. It acts like its a wired controller.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like the battery isn't keeping a charge

I have had this problem w/ one of my wireless batteries before as well. I found that if my wireless controller battery completely died, then no matter how many days I would charge it straight up, it would always shut off. I also noticed that when I plugged my cord in to charge the battery the light would go red for a few seconds, and then turn green to signify that everything is ok. I unplug it and then the controller shuts off. What I did was 2 things, 1) I would plug the cord in for a few seconds however I would still remove it while it was red, and then I would do it again, and remove it while it was red. I did this to try and give a little bit of a charge to the battery so I wasn't charging it from a completely dead state. After a few min. of that it worked and charged just fine. I also noticed that the cord itself was damaged at the connector end of the controller, which led me to step #2 which was buy a new charge kit. I found that the old one had connection issues and depending on how I held the cord would determine wether or not I got a red light or green light, so by simply replacing the cord you should have a solution to this as well. If after doing step 1 you still have issues like I did, then replace the cord and you should be just fine. Let me know if this works or not cool?

I sent my Play & Charge kit in on November 15, 2007. MS still hasn't sent me the black replacement. I'm going to call them again.
I paid $15 to mail in a $30 product and it's obvious that they are never going to send it. I can see why some people do the Walmart switch.

My battery seems to be walking that way, it's reching its end pretty fast now. All I can think about is that your battery "died", in other words it can no longer keep the enrgy inside it, I'd recommend you buy a new battery. It's probably not the cable's fault, after all the controller works when connected, so I take it it's the wire itself that is REALLY providing energy to the hardware.
