Multiplayer! WTF?!?!?!?

I haven't been able to get one game in yet! I cannot find a mtach to save my life. Neither could my on or his friends. WTF?!?!

Incredibly disappointed with the Multiplayer thus far. If you're playing by yourself it takes at the very least 5 minutes to actually start a game. I'm also experiencing lag in every game I play in and no it's not just me.

I've been sitting in a lobby for 9 minutes now. It shows me paired up with 4 other players but it can't seem to find an opposing team of similar skill. Sometimes it just takes a while I guess. I do have faith that it will speed up though. It has to....right?

And does anyone know how the ranking actually works? I've got more points than some people who are at a higher rank, so i'm thinking it's similar to Halo? Where you have to win and not just play?

I have had those same problems even as the host of a team of 5. One of the guys on my list says it is due to my renting the game and not buying it with the code for the five free maps. He and a few others claim that they have had no trouble getting matches after they downloaded the maps.

I'm sure that's not the case with you guys though right ???

That would not be the reason at all. You have to pick the playlist for those 5 maps anyways if you want to play them

I finally played one game, lost, and then we were all kicked to back to the find a match page. I couldn't find another match.

Hmmm....There has to be a glitch somewhere. I'm sure they're all over the issue and trying to fix it.

I still haven't played Gears 2 yet! I'll be getting it soon, though...can't wait... I feel like I'm going insane................

the more multiplayer you play the faster the matchmaking process will go, it updates your network settings after every search, after like 10 games or so it has a good enough idea on how to find a game and with who, it takes less than a minute for me

Yeah, my first few games everyday are a little slow to connect and laggy, but after 2-3 it clears right up.

I know your not calling people out on their user reviews, you give damn near every game released on Xbox360 a 10.0, that's why I dont even read dem joints. I just see the 3 most recent games reviewed on the homepage with the reviewer & score,..then hit the forums link and keep it moving.


Anyways, back on topic, I too have had the same issues as most people trying to play online multiplayer only when i'm not invited to a game.
It gets annoying, but this game is the shiiit!! King Of The Hill is my favorite!:hump:

I paid £40 for it on release date, I even went to the midnight launch and to be honest the single player campingn is F*ckin awesome but one the other hand the multiplayer is f*ckin Sh*te!,,, I live in England and it takes F*ckin years to join a match but once ive found a match using the shotgun is just F*ckin pointless unless im lucky enough to be the host (which is 1 in a billion chance)
theres so much lag on fireing a shotgun(Sh*tgun) there's like 2-3 seconds lagg! so theres no chance in hell im gonna get a kill with it and if i do i must of killed a n00b because it takes like 4 shotgun shots!

A title of this calibur should not have load times and long periods of waiting just to connect to a game. EPIC has the full backing of MS, so lets not use the small company excuse. GOW is pretty much worthless online in my opinion. Sounds like Jak is making a bunch of excuses for a poor quality of workmanship.

In my opinon, there are much smaller budget titles that play 100 times better than GOW2 online.

I wouldnt go as far to call it a failure. A let down? Yeah. But it has still sold plenty of copies and folks will continue to play it as they did the first one. In my opinion, the game is just a glorifed GOW 1 at most. I'll take the COD series or even Halo over GOW anyday.

If not, then play private with your friends. If you still can't do either, than you just have to wait like the rest of us. I don't play online unless I have a few friends playing too.

I noticed lol,,, And i just think in my opinion its a epic failure (epic being the pun lol) it has a solid SP much better than the first in my eyes, But i was just dissapointed with the mp really and really hoped it would be something it turned out not to be :crying: ahh well here's hoping for a patch as are the rest of us! old grudges die hard i see, the only reason i call it small because it has one office, in North Carolina, it has left than 100 staff members, and its servers don't fill a warehouse just a room in the building they work

thats an interesting opinion, i think no matter what it is a good game, and that people are naturally bias towards the multiplayer due to issues with GOW1 and the fact that it isnt a very forgiving game, once your dead, ur out for that round. So yes it could have been better but the first was amazing and its hard to add on or be better than amazing.

I had the same problem for a little while.

It may just be your connection..Did you get a message before you entered the lobby saying that you may have a slow connection due to a firewall on your network..?

All I had to do was open a few ports on my router and then I got matches.

As you get more EXP, though, you should find matches easier to come by.

NOTE: Opening ports only works with a wireless connection. If you're wired up directly to a modem or router, then I don't know what to do.

i was very displeased with the online multiplayer as well i even went back to gow 1 yesterday since i had more friends playing the first. finding enough freinds to do a private game can be to difficult so gow 2 gets F for online but ill give the SP an A cause it was alot of fun cutting out the hearts of a giant worm.

What really pisses me off about the multiplayer is that all people have to do is melee you once and shoot you with the shotgun and you're dead. I've been in so many matches where that's all that has happened.

ya well that where the skill factor comes in, you have to out smart the 2 piecing noobs and two piece them if necessary, i cannot tell u how many people rush up to me ready to 2 piece me and i either blast their head off with a sniper or blow them away with a perfect reloaded shotgun

i really hated gears 2 and sold it. Then i really missed it mainly the single player and horde mode. So yesterday i awoke and went and bought it again and much to my suprise there was a update and match making is now sorted YaY! and theres a new update coming this month to sort all glitches and sort the shotguns out (hip fireing will no longer hit the ground) and also harsher punishment for match quiters. this will finally make gears 2 a much better game online
