Just bought a Xbox 360 pro with an extra wireless controller. The controller out of the box with the batteries included would stay connected for about 3 clicks, then go off. This continued with four sets of brand new batteries. So, I then try the extra controller I bought and had the same problems with disconnecting. It finally worked on the third set of new batteries. That controller work now but the other one still does not work with any set of batteries for more than three clicks. What is up with these controllers??? Is it simply a matter of getting stronger batteries or using the rechargeable battery packs? We just switched over from PS2 to Xbox and I hope this is not the way the controllers work.
Anyone have this kind of problem? How did you solve them?

Don't know why you've had such an issue. Are you sure it was syncd properly first?
Even ghetto dollar store batteries are fine if needed but definetly get a play and charge kit, then you don't need anymore batteries

1. What do you have to do to "properly" sync other than pressing that little white button on the front and having the lights spin around, then light up one of the four quadrants in green? I think that part is working.
2. So you are saying that most any batteries will work as long as the charge is good?
3. Does a cordless phone in the room interfere with wireless controllers? It's about ten feet away.
4. What about wireless internet in the home. Located in the basement and this is on 2nd level.

Wireless internet does not interrupt the controller, my entire house is a wireless internet area and has been for year so you don't need to worry bout that.
The cordless phone might interfere with the controller and most any battery will work as long as the charge is good.

Sync the controllers pressing the button on the controller first, then the 360.
I have 3 controllers. The one that came with it, and two others I picked up, one new, one from ebay, all 3 work with no problems.
Make sure you have a good battery, fully charged, and nothing is in between you and the 360.
That really shouldn't matter, my controller works upstairs with the 360 downstairs. I know because I will sometimes run to grab something out of my room while playing and continue talking to friends.

I'll give that a try. I don't think that will make a difference because the green connection light is lit up on both the controller and the xbox in the same quadrant. It will work for about 3or 4 button clicks, then is dead.

If it's a 2.4Ghz, then it's possible. Try and unplug it and turn it off and then see if it makes a difference just to test.
It could be possible you just got a bunk controller too

I've concluded that that controller is bad. I can't get it to power on with any set of batteries, so I am taking it back for a new one.
Thanks for the input.

Good, the controllers aren't normally bad but you get some bad ones some times always helps to keep the receipt.
