Okay, well this hasnt really botherd me much lately as i havent been on xbox in a while, but a got a couple new games. When i turn on my xbox i click the open disk tray, and then put a disk in. It goes reading.... then says open disk tray again. Ive tried many games, still nothing.

My xbox has been messed since it killed my rainbow game. It would only work when standing, then went back to normal, and now this.

Can I fix this or will i have to send it in?

As I refure to talk to microsoft tech support im just going to go out and get a new one if i have to.

sounds to me like the lazer is out of alignment. This can happen from time to time and may be the cause of the xbox not reading games. Is it doing it for ALL your games or just certain ones? If it does it for all your games then it could just be a lazer out of alignment (which can be fixed by you, but its better to let ms handle it so you don't void the warranty). I'd also reccommend that if its all your games then you should send it in to make sure its nothing more severe.

How would i fix this, i have already voided warrenty and it dosnt matter. My warrenty was up and it is probably cheaper and easier just to go buy one myself.

All i know is when i shake is i can here something moving inside it, and i figured it was the laser.

Edit:

Okay i have my xbox all apart, now when i opened the disk drive the laster was in the middle of the "slide" could that be the problem?

You can change you laser out and fix your 360 for less than $15.

If your handy with repairing things or taking them apart and putting it back together again you can do this.

Hell a year ago I had no idea about 360's, NOW I mod them and fix them no problem. I simply started by reading everything on www.LLamma.org about repairs and mods and watched YouTube videos.

I have fixed & sold over 100 360's and all still are going strong.

Good Luck and if you need any help, send me a PM.

Interesting i would find this thread as my xbox just started doing the same exact thing(except i never had to tip it on its side to make it work its always worked perfectly until 3 days ago). It just says open tray whenever i put any disc in it as if it don't detect a thing. :crying: Anyone up for some arcade games?:hardcore:

You can try installing the disc/game on the HD and maybe it will still let you play some of your games till you fix it.
