View Full Version : I ended up renting JSRF and it was disappointing

Well I went ahead and rented JSRF. That was the best game they had at the video store I went to.

And I have to say that I wasn't impressed. If you aren't grinding in the game, then you aren't doing anything! That's all you do and it gets boring pretty quick. The music is awesome but the graphics just are too plain. I know they're cell shaded, and I don't hate cell shading, but the cs in this game is much worse than Cell Damage.

Of course the story is lame, but that really isn't a big problem. The games just lacks excitement. You grind one rail, then you jump to another, then you grind on that one, then jump to another, and so on and so on.

I know I'll get flamed for this, but it's my opinion and I just didn't care for it.

it grows on you
i got it for my birthday and its kind of fun now. you gotta think about the problems and when you figure them out you think "hey that was pretty smart of them to hide it here"
im pretty far now and its fun to me
multiplayer isnt good though

I enjoy it most of the time. Sometimes it gets frustrating just because the camera angle or the grinding sends you in the opposite direction. And I strongly dislike the music. But like I said, I enjoy it the majority of the time.

Agree.

I rented the bastard; played it for a little more than 2 hrs and returned it. I wasn't thrilled with it to say the least.

You need to play this game a little longer to see if you really like it.

This game gets better the longer you play it. Grinding plays a small part of the game but if you are looking to be Tony Hawk, then your playing the wrong game.

Hey Mercury how long did you play the game? It took me about three hours to get into the game before i really liked it. Also did you take all the lessons from the robot. Once i did you could pretty much do just about any trick you wanted in the game.

Also I knew if you just like one just genre of music you wouldn't like this game either. Personally i like the soundtrack that they have for this game, its kinda like techno music and i'm cool with that.

I don't really see why you said the graphics look plain. Smilebit put so much detail in everything. Take a closer look at some of the levels you played and tell me those aren't good graphics. I've never played played cell damage so i don't have nothing to compare like you did, but I thought the graphics were awesome.

I love the game, especially turbo boost, the effects are top notch, and you create your own sig which I like very much.

SOoooooooo.... Love it or hate it... Isn't that the way it is with most games?

I'm kind of one of those losers that will play them all. I mean, if I have a game in front of me I'll play it till the bitter end. I'm talking, I played Superman for the N64 for hours once just cause I had nothing better to do. Did I enjoy myself... NO

What that has to do with this I have no idea. I loved JSRF and I loved the original on the DC... Give it a try.. you'll like it.

I had a choice between Rallisport, YHPS#, and JSRF. I went with JSRF and a love it...I can see how you might not like the music, but I think its the coolest music ever, some of the lyrics are funny as hell. The multiplayer could be better, but at least it has muliplayer. This game need to be given time before you will like it.

I loved it... and snoop judging by ur avatar I think u like one of the tricks.. if you grind and do x-x-y-x-x (or x-x-y-x i can't figure it out) the trick is called porn star! I thought that was funny. I rented it yesterday afternoon, and I have played it for 4:15... I don't know if I'm far in the game though because I spent a lot of time just roaming around grinding... I'm at the level with the train tracks, and just beat up some cops... I hate those poison dudes... everytime i beat em they just run away:( But I think I will buy this game once I get some dough!

haha, i wanna be a pornstar when i grow up, im addicted to porn, haha.:D i cant figure out how to do a 3 trick combo in the air, the most i can do is 2. and sometimes, when im trying to link tricks together (grind, trick, grind, jump and do an aerial, then grind), it like resets it after i jump and grind again, although i dont touch the ground.

Some of the further levels are kind of annoying! I fell on this one part like 10 times....I was really ****ed! So I popped in Halo and killed people! I am much better now!

I haven't played JSRF yet, but, I don't think I will waste my time. I found it crazy to actually hear people say that JSRF compared to Halo!

This is a good thing to see btw...I like that there are people out there that have taste. And I mean different taste.

JSRF was getting quite a heated following and I think it has to do with the style of the game more than the content. But that's all right because the game does have its own style. I'm happy though to see that there are people who just turned their noses up at this and had the balls to say it too.

I've been saying things about UFC and Raw and other games with followings that just seem to be lacking. I'm not critisizing the genre or the actual content, but people get offended. I like that most everyone finally went hey that's cool, but I like this game. Instead of saying you guys who don't like JSRF can suck our collective lovepole!

This kind of reviewing is great. Please for the love of all things able to bleed, keep up this maturity to not take these critical statements about games to heart and we won't have dumbarse flame based threads. No one is saying people suck, we're saying certain things about games suck and want to raise the bar.

K enough of this horse*****...
