Has anyone tried the new Netflix update? I heard that some of the streaming content is in HD. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, and I love it. The update now lets you start a party that you and your friends avatars can all sit in a theater and watch the same thing and interact.
You have been able to stream HD for a while now, mostly T.V. shows and some newer movies. I know for sure 30 Rock, Heroes, The Office are in HD. They are adding more all the time.

neflix does do streaming in hd, however, it is up to netflix to decide the quality and that is based on your connection that netflix monitors and then determines if you watch it in hd or not.

Ok, I may have to try it. I could watch netflix streaming on xbox and have 1 blue ray rented at a time to watch on the ps3.

or if your movie is on the actual marketplace you can select "hd format" 99% of the time.

Yes, but why pay way to much for a movie that takes 5-10 mins to download and you can only watch for 24 hours? It's a ripoff.

How is it any different from going to Blockbuster and renting something that has to go back the next day?

It's not, which is why I use Netflix. If, keyword IF I rent a movie, it's from Redbox. $1 a night. Plus Blockbuster now has $2 a day rentals.

I do not like the xbox marketplace movie rental section. They do not have a good selection because they remove movies all the time. I wanted to rent the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie the other day and they don't have it. At least with Netflix I can rent it on blue ray and keep it for as long as I want for the 9.00 a month fee, plus I would have unlimited streaming.

I agree w/ some of the points made about the whole MS video market place pricing, but all in all i think that "renting" is kinda not worth it ya know? you pay all this money and what do you actually "have" for it? might as well wait till its cheap (like when you're movie gets around $5 or less) and then pick it up.
