Dragon Age: Origins 'Darkspawn Chronicles' DLC coming May 18


Though the pithy in-game dialogue in Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 has clearly demonstrated BioWare's collective sense of humor, it appears the company wasn't kidding around when it promised more DLC for its main franchises. The latest Xbox Live Newsbeat has announced a new downloadable chunk of content for Dragon Age: Origins, titled "Darkspawn Chronicles." Aside from its release date (May 18) and its price (400, or $5), nothing else has been explained about the listing.

We've contacted BioWare to ascertain said details. Personally, we're hoping for playable Darkspawn characters. Haven't you always wondered what's going on inside that poor little Genlock's scaly head?

I just read about this. At least Dragon Age is getting real DLC. Mass Effect 2 has DLC in the form of armor yet again :( (Released today)

Being the bad guy is just more fun; ask Gary Oldman. EA brings word today that players are gonna be able to get their hack-n-slash on minus the typical ‘white hat’ morality imposed by most games. Darkspawn Chronicles, the new DLC pack for BioWare’s Dragon Age: Origins, will give players their first opportunity to fight as the darkspawn.

The Darkspawn Chronicles offers players a look at an alternate history in the Dragon Age universe. Darkspawn Chronicles begins as your character dies during the Joining ceremony, and the Grey Wardens now march under Alistair’s command. As a hurlock vanguard, you alone hold the power to make thralls of their fellow darkspawn and drive them into the heat of battle as Denerim burns! This adventure gives you command of genlocks, hurlocks, shrieks, and even the mighty ogres.

Key features include:

o Imagine a world without heroes, where the greatest among you never became a Grey Warden.
o Play through the Fall of Denerim from the perspective of the darkspawn.
o Complete the module and unlock an epic darkspawn item for use in Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening.
o Use the “Enthrall” ability – recruit any darkspawn you encounter into your party.

Darkspawn Chronicles will available May 18th for Xbox 360 and PC (400 MS/BioWare points) and is launching at some later date on PlayStation 3 for $4.99.
