Crysis 2 was featured on last week's gametrailers show. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is going to be a halo smasher game of the year. Move over halo and cod, b/c this is gonna run over them all.

I can guarantee there is 0% chance of Crysis outselling either title. Further, this game looks a little bland with the New York setting. Sorry, but compared to the impact Crysis had on the PC landscape, part 2 doesn't look all that impressive so far.

Having played the first game, outside of the AMAZING graphics, the story was decent but nothing mindblowing and the MP was really weak, especially when you compare it to the Halo or CoD series.

I'm certain that they will craft a fine FPS, as I enjoyed Far Cry and Crysis, but there's no way it gets game of the year on any platform imo. Not with all the other heavy hitters that have released or are coming this year.

Then again I just checked ebgames.com and they have Crysis 2 listed for 12/31. I bet it gets delayed into 2011 to avoid the big shooters coming out in the fall/winter (Halo, CoD, Medal of Honor etc).

You make some valid points, however, this teaser doesn't show the quality of the game. I'm going to take this point by point here. The landscape itself is going to be amazing. The island from the first Crysis was beautiful, with lush coloring and coupled w/ the fact that the environment itself is directly related to the physics engine made it stand out above the rest. Now that its set in NYC, the buildings and structures themselves will be following in the same footsteps so it will bring about detail like no other title can.

With Crysis 2 they have made sure that a great amount of attention was given to the story itself. The story for this is not being penned together by a couple of gamers, but they have brought in an award winning Sci-Fi author in Richard Morgan to make sure that the story will be unreal. CoD and Halo are not going to have the story backing them up as well as Crysis 2 will.

I have yet to hear/read anything about the MP of Crysis 2, so thats something that will have to wait till E3 I guess, but "if" the MP model gets ironed out and delivers then that will be the nail in the coffin for G.O.T.Y for this title.

Lets do a quick compare btw the 3 titles.

Cod = Nothing really spectacular story wise, and now that Treyarch is the sole CoD company they will have big shoes to fill now that Infinity Ward is shut down. As of now not much has been shown, so we'll have to see how the physics, graphics, story, and more stack up. My guess is that the story will be next to non-existent, the graphics will be good, the physics will fall short of Crysis 2, and the main bulk of the title will focus solely around the MP experience. If that is the case, then no way will this get game of the year. Sure its CoD, so it will sell millions I agree, but I don't forsee this title standing its ground against Crysis. Its been trumped in almost every catagory.

Halo Reach = Bungie has their hands full trying to move on past their ODST title that many feel lowered the quality of the Halo series. Not much is known about the story as Bungie has sealed up details like a dolphins butthole, but if they can deliver a quality story similar to Halo 2, then they are the only big hitters that will contend w/ Crysis's story. Not as much physics in this title either, so expect your bulletproof glass, and walls that are indestructible to rockets and grenades. I do hope they include environments that you can destroy, but alas I don't see that happening.

Bottom line, is that Crysis has the big hitters trumped on: story, physics, graphics. We will obv. have to wait and see more about the MP details, but as it stands now the MP title will have to go between Halo and CoD.

This will be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming months of 2010 b/c in the world of FPS this is going to be a close race.

Sorry but I just don't see it happening, if you wanna go story then Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, Bioshock 2 , Red Dead Redemtion, dead space 2 etc could easily take that award and I fully expect Bungie to go out with a bang on there last Halo game. CoD I couldn't care less about and definitely agree that treyarchs story will be sub-par, but just the name alone insures it gets a lions share of the sales this holiday.

I'm very excited that Richard Morgan is on board for the story, as I enjoyed Altered Carbon and its sequels, but that still doesn't guarantee that it'll be a great story, especially with what he has to work with.

Graphics wise, well that's really more subjective than anything. While technically speaking crysis 2 will be nothing short of a powerhouse, its the creative design that seems to be more important (especially to reviewers)than just texture details and physics. Personally I can already tell that I'll get less enjoyment out of Crysis 2's new environment graphically because I just prefer a lush tropical island to play on as opposed to cold city streets. But again that's more of a personal preferance.

Halo Reach is shaping up to be a landmark title for Bungie and I fully expect them to deliver on THE definitive Halo title. Personally i don't see destructive environments as something that's necessary in Halo. To me that would change the core gameplay too much.

Now all that being said, please don't for a second think I'm not excited about this game, I just think you should wait and see more before claiming its gonna roll over two of the biggest franchises in all of gaming let alone all the other massive titles that have already been released. Needless to say, we should all be VERY thankful that we have so many great titles in ONE year to argue about :rockout:
