What exactly is that networking or whatever it is in the back of the Xbox? It sure would be nice to have Internet games on Xbox. Still, what is it?

it's actually a phone line connection...soon you'll be able to make all your 20 minutes calls for under a dollar, and only 7 cents/minute after that. who says you can't get anything for a dollar?

It's an ethernet port for broadband connections. If you have broadband (cable/DSL), you can play games online with others. The official Microsoft servers have yet to launch, but GameSpy and others have made it possible to play Halo and other games.
