2 light red ring

my xbox has been having the overheat red ring when in fact it isnt hot at all when it shuts off. i have a fan blowing on the power brick and a laptop cooling pad under my xbox, but it continues to randomly shutoff and show the 2 red lights. I have heard that this could be caused by a dust buildup. so if this is the case how would i clean it without damaging it. (oh and i have a pro if that helps any).

Get some canned air (ya know, for cleaning computers). Just blow that into the air vents on the back of the xbox, because that's where the fans are.

Ye, Buy some canned air :) or do what my mate did and put the main in the freezer to cool it, shame it didnt work for the 3rd time... he then got fed up and punched it 5 times, thrown it against the radiator and chucked it out the window onto the grass. He's mad but you gotta love him, never guess he went to the shop and got NFSS2 for free with Xbox Slim for £180 within 1hr of the other one braking. he shown me the pics the day after and his old one was still on the lawn :)
