Okay, so I hope someone here knows what the hell is going on. I've exhausted all other resources. I cannot connect to XBL to play any multiplayer games. What I've been trying to do this last week is get into my GOW3 beta - unsuccessfully. Basically here is where I sit:

New xbox
Connected wirelessly (all open)
Connection test to XBL passes flying colors
Insert game, loads, get the "Disconnected from XBL" notif
Try to connect in-game, says it can't, no status code
Go to dashboard, test, tests just fine

On the rare occasion when I load a game and it doesn't automatically disconnect me, I get there is an Update available, click download, it hangs on the progress bar, like it's disconnected but just hanging. WTF. I'm so pissed at it right now. The internet connection is good, network is good, no other devices have the problem. Have reset to factory defaults, cleared cache, reset all my hardware, all to no avail. And yes all correct ports are open.

I'm hoping this is something really stupid that I can't figure out. Anybody have any ideas??

are you part of the xbox beta program? have you tried a direct connection and see if that works? what other games have you tried that give you the same error?

Sounds like an issue with your router more than anything else

i actually had this very same problem last night with the GoW3 beta, and in all honestly, altho it appears that it hangs on the progress bar, the update for the beta is HUGE and it takes about 15 mins to dl and install it (at least for me it did)... when u load the game and start the install i would suggest maybe doing something else for a few mins and checking back. Hope that helps!

*edit* I am also connected wirelessly, and only appeared to have connection issues (which turned out to not be an issue at all) when the beta was loaded. stayed connected when doing other things like netflix, and other MP games.

Thanks for the replies. I went through almost every imaginable step one could when troubleshooting an error. Was on the phone with tech support, when I ran out of ideas after 3 days of troubleshooting, for about 2.5 hours. They thought it was my hard drive, but I finally got it working with a usb stick (w/o HDD). Long story short, my wife fixed it (and shoved it in my face) by unplugging the router for almost 2 hours. I had only had it unplugged for 20 minutes or so. So simple, yet so overlooked. :nightmare

Oh, and no, I'm not on the Xbox beta - I've tried!

The GOW3 beta download took me about 3 hours to get through. I assumed it was my ISP, although I had a pretty much continuous 14mb dl and 2 mb ul speeds. Not the fastest, but I would've thought it would've went faster than that. Oh well. It works. Me be happy. :rockout:
