Ok yes the game is old but I just picked it up last week and I am really enjoying it until......I got to Tiamat. I just battled that thing for 20 minutes and could not defeat it. I have no problem getting it to the ground but once on the ground I have tried everything and just can't kill it. Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong
thanks

Tiamat is one tough customer, and she certainly means business. I really hope
that you have at least one Life Essence at your disposal. For the first part
of the boss battle, Tiamat lurks around the perimeter of the rooftop. She will
occasionally stop to cough up a fireball your way; sidestep to avoid getting
burnt.
The only way to damage Tiamat while airborne is to use one of the many Bomb
Growth lying around the roof. Unfortunately for us, they are dormant and must
be lit somehow. There are two ways of doing that, both huge pains.
The most conventional way - the same way we've been doing it so far - is to
toss a Bomb Growth onto Tiamat. There are several torches surrounding the roof
so target a torch, then the Bomb Growth to damage the bat queen. There are two
problems with this: first off, you must be very close to Tiamat to pull this
off, so she must directly be hovering over a torch for you to target her. This
isn't very common. Secondly, she's constantly spewing fireballs that it's hard
for you to pause, enter Aim Mode, select both targets, and let it fly.
The second way to inflict damage on Tiamat is with timing. Just as Tiamat is
getting ready to hurl a fireball, throw a Bomb Growth at her face. The
fireball should be enough to ignite the Bomb Growth. Personally I find the
timing window to be very small and I've never been precise with it. I prefer
the first option.
Either way, damage Tiamat with a Bomb Growth and she falls to the ground.
Attack her unrelentlessly with your Chaoseater until she gets up. Now Tiamat
will fly around the roof, but instead of pausing to shoot a fireball, she will
divebomb you, her talons scraping the ground. Avoid getting ripped to shreds
by the talons and wait until she calms down.
Tiamat will start using fireballs again, so get back to the Bomb Growths. Keep
your health in check: unlike some of the fights earlier in the game, there are
no Green Soul chests to aid you, so use your Life Essence sparingly and don't
get too ****y when using the Bomb Growths. Stun Tiamat with a Bomb Growth,
then continue attacking. Do this twice more to ground the bat for good.
With Tiamat on the ground, she will now use her large wings and claws... and
tail for attacking! There are several scenarios to take into account in this
next phase of the fight.
If you are too far away, Tiamat will respond by shooting a series of fireballs
your way. Blocking them is your best bet. If you stand up close to Tiamat, she
will retaliate with her two clawed hands. Dangerous stuff. If you get behind
Tiamat, she has no trouble sweeping her tail from side to side to knock you
away. Finally, if Tiamat floats up in the air, back away before she does a
cannonball down into the ground.
Stay in front of Tiamat and block her claw attacks, then retaliate with a
Wrath Ability like Blade Geyser. Sometimes you will stun the boss, leaving her
open for attack for a quick few seconds. Also try using a charged up
Crossblade attack to keep her distracted, then go in for the kill with your
Chaoseater.
