Im really pumped about Emulation coming to the xbox.
Imagine booting up your box and having every SNES game right there for you to play. Well MAME is an arcade emulator (for those that dont know) and its great. I know this is old news, but here check this out.

Yeah, I saw this in the first issue of OXM, I knew it would be pretty cool.

Just like all the SNES emulators and such on DreamCast. Ahhh...the good old days. :D

Sometimes I think we spent more time playing SNES games on my Dreamcast than actual Dreamcast games!

I hopes this comes about soon. Aahh... the old days.

I never got a chance to get into emulation on my DC. But im thinking about hooking up the DC in my living room for some soul calibur and emulation.

Im interested in DREAMSNES.

A few questions though............(yes im aware there are tutorials and im sure i can figure out with a few minutes, but im at work and cant mess around)

Do i burn the ROMS onto the same disc as the emulator?
Or do i use the romlist creator to create a library that the emulator reads?

Im sorry if i sound like a retart, Ive never tried emulation on a console. Only the PC.

someone educate me on this emulator thingy!

Is it some kinda wire connections or is it something like what the now out of business Bleem did for Dreamcast?

man, Metal Gear Solid was soooo sweet to play on my DC with that boot up disc!

yeah, Its like bleem. But you can burn a disc(the emulator) for like any system. And just D/L the games for free.

Worth looking into to make use of your DC.

I sent you a PM with a good site.

Didnt wanna post here, not sure how majority would feel about it.

I'd love to see MAME on the XBOX with all the ROMs on one DVD.

It will never happen, though.

That's some pretty old news folks. Here's the last paragraph before the screenshots:

Now if only Microsoft would let me legally distribute this software I'd be a happy person. Unfortunately, only registered XBox developers can legitimately obtain this software (okay, apart from the fact that only registered XBox developers actually have an XBox that can run the software).

I'm as excited about running MAME on the XBox as anyone but don't hold yer breath.

I should have just called the thread "Emulation on XboX"

I just used mame as an example.

I agree, Bryanhls. There are a few people on here that tend to post for the sake of posting, not necessarily for a meaningful contribution to the forum, and possibly because they just like to hear themselves talk. You won't see that from me, though.

I do think that it will become POSSIBLE to run emulation on the Xbox. However, the practicality of it will be the major drawback. How many of us have DVD burners, and even then how many of us have the $$ to burn Coaster DVD after Coaster DVD in an attempt to get this thing right? Maybe on down the road, but right now, I'm out. The cheapest DVD-R is currently 6.00 a pop. Ouch. Once it's figured out, great. Don't count on me for development, though.

I don't see MS (or anyone else) obtaining the required licenses to distribute such a gaming suite.

If someone figures out how to make unofficial games work on the XBOX then I can see the possibilities. However, I would much prefer to have a legit copy.

There are ways around this. It is possible to burn DVD movies to multiple CD's. Dvdit, is a program that lets you burn dvd onto a cdr/rw. CDrw obviously won't hold as long a movie as a dvd disc would, but its a start. The program lets you choose the bitrate etc.
