My first true RPG was Oblivion. I finished that and then got Skyrim, all on my 360. Then my wife and I had kids and I took a gaming hiatus for a few years (too little time to play). Then about 9 months ago I grabbed a Xbox One S, and skyrim special edition and started back up. Still enjoying it and not finished yet, but I am ready for something new, that hopefully takes graphics/gameplay up a notch. I am planning to have a 4K HDR TV soon. Anyway, I tried Mass Effect trilogy, but its not what I'm looking for. I just can't get into it. I don't see any info at all about Elder Scrolls 6, so I assume it is at least a year and a half away, maybe more. Does anyone have any recommendations for current or upcoming RPGs?

Final Fantasy XV and Witcher 3 are musts and will give you hundreds of hours

I’ve had Witcher 3 on my radar and watched a lot of gameplay footage, but it just isn’t drawing me in. Maybe it’s the drab environments. I’m really looking for vibrant visuals. Maybe I’ll give it a shot and see. As for final fantasy I’ve never played any in the series before. Maybe i need to check out some gameplay footage.

I watched some final fantasy gameplay and it’s very hard to deal with the dialogue, or more specifically all the over dramatic grunting and moaning and sighing that the characters do when surprised or exerting themselves, etc. It is weird and very distracting. Is this throughout the game? Also one of the scenes is several guys pushing a car down the road that I assume was out of gas and for a long time and nothing happening just arguing whose turn it is to not push. This goes on for minutes and seems I very odd.

Witcher 3 is probably the top prettiest game on the console, especially with the newest patch for the X, if you're into visuals. It's a fantasy setting with swords/magic, but the writing is bar far above anything else out there by a mile. Some of the sidequests are written and more memorable than campaigns from other games.

FFXV is gorgeous as well. the car thing is your way to get from destination to destination, but you want to fill up on gas or you'll need to push it, like in real life. There is warping/teleporting on the map should you choose to play that way.

Good info, thanks. I don’t have time for 2 new games, but maybe I’ll pick up one of these while I wait for Elder Scrolls 6. Prob Witcher because I think the weird grunting noises in FF would annoy me.

Don't know if you're a Star Wars fan, but you can now get Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic on the Xbox One through the compatibility with the original Xbox games for (I believe) $10. Doesn't get much better than that.

You've got a few YEARS before ES6, so....
