Can't jump far enough!!!! (Halo)

Ok, am I stupid or what....in the level where you have to jump into those beams to knock out the generator things....the second one...how in hell do you get to it??? It's way up there and I can't jump over from that platform. Tried for a half hour to do it, I must be stupid. Anyone do it differently? Help!

lmao dude thats not the generator. the generators all look the same that you have to destroy. you need to move onto the next room. then find your way into the next generator room and eventually you will reach a point where you get a new navpoint and probably have to fly to it.
