but most of the good next generation games are going to be online... since it's part of xbox...

btw, a message in all caps makes you look retarded.

    Default PC vs. NPC

My question on Xbox LIve is this:

In a game where you interact with other PLAYERS (PC's)...what happens if part of your "mission" is something similar to "go find PLAYER A and capture them" (such as in a game where you might be a bounty hunter (read: Star Wars)).

    now...my QUESTION:

"If PLAYER A is not online when I go to get him (at his location), what happens?"
Does the game fill in with a non-player Character (NPC's)? Does some in-game message tell me that he is not there, and that I will have to try later or something? Or some other possibility?

How are Developers for XBOX Live games going to handle this? How are online games handling it currently? (if even they are)

    Thanks,
    SymposiumX

well...I guess that basically answers my question.

I was thiking that the possibility of having to take on a SPECIFIC player's character would be interesting (i.e. in Star Wars playing a bounty hunter to track down "PLAYER 12345" for skipping out on loan re-payments) It appears that in that scenerio , as a bounty hunter, I would have to track down "PLAYER 12345' or any number of other players to fulfil my 'mission' "

so much for my dream of having a powerful archmage (played by a PERSON) in a massive online game, and having other player character band together to take him and his fortress down. *sigh*
