It has to be a CD-RW for it to work.

And it has to be an audio cd.. mp3s won't work.. yet (modchip and custom software might change this).

All this time I didn't know that. Damn. I tried to use a CD-R once and it didn't work so I never thought to ask I just assumed xbox wouldn't play any copied discs at all. I could have been rippin more songs from my pc to CD-RW to my box for months now.. Thanks for the info.

It should play DVD-Rs, depending on how they are burned.

Oh, man! I could have had almost 150 songs right now if I had known to get CD-RW's. Well, I hope they're not too expensive...
The older a person gets, the less they care what they wear. Old people come up with some of the strangest clothing combinations you'll ever see. I think of it as "cancer of the clothing."

When re-recording on it using a program like nero a caption should come up warning that it will be overwritten.

I think what dre was trying to say is that a cd full of mp3 files won't work in your xbox, you have to burn them onto audio cd's before your xbox can read them.

I've found that TDK CD-RW work very well with the xbox, I'm not sure if the speed of the disk is important but I use a 4x speed CDRW.
