Default Bill Gates Defends The Xbox

    The Bill of Health
The big man says the M-Soft and the entire technology industry are doing quite fine.

July 25, 2002 - The Bill spoke at a news conference today proclaiming that he is very pleased with the state and the outlook of the technology industry. He expressed his pleasure in Microsoft's earnings and achievements of the 2002 fiscal year. The Bill also seems to be proud of the investments Microsoft is making "to foster future growth and innovation."

In his speech, The Bill explained that three waves of software will map the future of Microsoft, with the upcoming online service Xbox Live being featured in the first wave of events.

Here is The Bill and his views on Microsoft:

"We've always taken a long-term approach to our business, even in times of economic challenge and uncertainty. Our products deliver great value today, and our technology road map puts us in a strong position for the years ahead."

In closing, the Bill stated his optimism for the big company:

"As we continue to move into the 'Digital Decade,' we're seeing the boundaries between systems and applications start to dissolve. It's this fluidity that will power incredible, tangible change in how all of us use technology."

Of course, the Xbox will play a key role in the future of Microsoft and with The Bill's optimism, things are looking mighty fine for Microsoft gamers.

I don't want to be mean, but the truth is that the xbox comes way last in the importance to Microsoft.

Microsoft Office comes first, then Microsoft Windows, and then Microsoft XBOX. This the truth. Microsoft pays way more attention to office and windows then it does to xbox.

As they should. Just because they're making a new product doesn't mean they forget everything else.

Perfectly stated, borka. Microsoft has been and will always be a PC company. It's what they do best.
The older a person gets, the less they care what they wear. Old people come up with some of the strangest clothing combinations you'll ever see. I think of it as "cancer of the clothing."

Yes but keep in mind that MS is on this big kick to connect everything to one big MS owned network, Media, Movies, Music< Software, etc... In which case they may use the XBOX as a platform to get into every home via broadband.

Have you noticed the advertising push MS has been doing for MS Broadband.

Unfortunatlly i think that "Set-top" is where they are headed, call it XBOX 2 or whatever, it seems to be the plan. Keep in mind Sony has made rumblings of doing the same thing with PS3,4??

    Who really knows.

Sure MS, is trying to setup a strong user base with the XBOX. They are actually exceeding their initial plans. You got to realize that for a first console from a company, MS is doing very well against the most recongnizable and widely known consoles (the ps2, gamecube). As a newbie they are getting more support from the start than any other company. With that in mind, the XBOX's future is very bright.

The real power or the real software for the xbox has not even come out yet. In the months leading up to the NEW YEAR the "must have" game will roll out. Thus, MS is thinking that if with the "average" titles they have such a strong userbase, then what will happen the XBOX truly shows it's power.

Now, with XBOX LIVE, and all the "must have" titles coming out in the next several months, XBOX is now going to truly show its powers. That's very frightening, because if the XBOX is competing toe to toe with the Gamecube right now, what will happen when it actually starts coming out with the titles that are "must haves".

MS and all XBOX owners have to be feeling very confident right now because the success of the xbox right now is great, and only better days lay ahead.

BTW Highlite, I own Splashdown and it an awesome game, definitely one of the must enjoyable racers ever.
