On another website, I think IGN.com, they said that at THIS very moment, Gamecube has an installed base of 4.8 million, while the Xbox has 3.8 million. This could all change by 2003, where it is predicted that Xbox will have an installed base of 13.8 million in homes, while Gamecube will have an installed base of 11.2 million in the same year. Not to shabby in the long run.

actually, in Japan, since the price cuts, xbox has been outselling gamecube.
so, there is hope for japan yet.
Where in the hell did you get that idea!? Latest figures I saw showed Xbox at 5000, and gamecube at 17000 or something.Originally posted by robnyack

In North America... PS2 has 23 million... Gamecbue has 4.8 Million and XBox has 4.8 million.
However, according to the latest research, XBox has a brighter future then Gamecube and more people are expecting to buy an xbox then a gamecube. Sales of XBox should beat Gamecube come the end of 2003.
"These somewhat bold figures were backed up by the fact that 15 percent of all people polled wanted to buy an Xbox, compared with only 9 percent for GameCube. Based on those positive (or negative, depending on how you look at it), Ziff Davis estimates Xbox’s installed user-base to jump to 13.7 million in 2003, as opposed to 11.2 million for GameCube. Of course, this still doesn’t measure up to the estimates for PlayStation 2 as the group claims PlayStation 2 sales will hit 24.3 million by 2003."
that's the actual quote if anyone cares.

Gamecube's stats are outdated, and should read 4.8 million now.
