    is an rj-45 cable the same as an ethernet or cat5 cable???

    I belive that is a crossover cable. If you were using it to connect to the internet via your Xbox, you would need to plug your DSL or Cable modem into it on one end, the hub on the other end, then use CAT 5's to connect your comp and Xbox to the hub. Other wise, the Crossover is only usefull for hooking two Xbox's directly together.

    rj45 is just the name of the conector found on patch and crossover cables. Just like the connector on your phone is called a rj11.

    Toder got it right. RJ45 is not limited to just cat-5 network cable, it can do lots of things.
