August 26, 2002 - The Online Revolution is here! Or is it? Sony Computer Entertainment America launches its Network Adaptor to retail stores tomorrow, and everyone is excited about it, even the folks at...Microsoft.
Yep, apparently Microsoft, like Sega before it, wants to get in on the Sony action (since "Xbox Live" doesn't launch until November), and sent us our very own PS2 Online Starter Kit. Sweet Microsoft!
We were so excited to get a free package from Microsoft, you know, who wouldn't be? The company rarely sends the PS2 guys copies of their games, we could barely hold ourselves back. But luckily, we restrained ourselves.
The proof arrived in our mailboxes today. Mr. Douglass C. Perry wasn't quite sure when he saw the Microsoft box, but hey -- free packages are always good!
The kit arrives.
So, naturally he went to carefully open it. What a surprise, too! The Microsoft folks are so nice! They sent presents.
But wait, you must always read the fine print, cause the world is so full of lawyers these days, you know?
And hey! Awesome! Let's see here, what does this do?
Ahhh, this is a commmunicator, an online communicator! Cool, this must help me get online.
And this will help me pass the time, right? Or does this plug into the system somehow?
But after those fun toys, the rest of the stuff just seemed like paper work. Lousy paperwork! Isn't that why were online, to avoid the paperwork?
Oh, and that's right, kids, always read the fine print, so you can understand everything your partners are really trying to say.
Mike Wiley tries the Start Kit Short Range Communicator for size. Hello? Anybody home?
Well to be honest, Microsoft's communicator kit was a really cool idea, you know? It was nice, too. Nice bunch of folks. No offense, of course, to Bill Gates and friends, but this darned kit didn't really help us at all (plus, that paddle thingy was broken, "why do I always get the warped one?!!"). It just made us fiddle around with some neat-o toys (more than we usually do). Phooey!
So, don't worry kids, the Network Adaptor, which ships tomorrow, won't require Microsoft's Starter Kit, though it might help the Xbox guys out when that online service comes out in November.

LMFAO did ms actually send it?
I'd assume so. Not too many people would go to the trouble of making all that stuff.
