Question How is this going to work?

From my experience from XB Connect, hardly anyone in the uk uses there xbox online. This will hopefully change when Xbox Live is released, but from seeing the huge Halo games you americans have, it would be great if people from the uk could play the us.
But because of the distance involved, the ping to the us, is about 3 times as big, as a ping to a uk server.
How are Microsoft going to get around this, to provide lag free worldwide gaming? Even Microsoft doesn't have enough money to put a new data pipe from us to uk, so is Xbox Live going to be dependent on your region, cause playing a load of frenchies or germans isn't exactly fun when you can't understand a single word they say.
Someone please put me out of my misery!

Well, Halo is not online with XBL since it was never online in the first place. XBConnect and Gamespy tricked the XBOX to think it was online which resulted into a lot of lag. The only thing I see that lags so far is Fever 2003 but Moto GP and Whacked run fine. I hope they fix Fever 2003. I do believe if you get XBL out there, you people might be able to play us in the United States but I am not sure. Remember, don't under estimate Microsoft. They have more money than you think.
