if you burn music onto a cd from another cd.... then yes.... if you burn music on a cd from your computer that you downloaded... then no.

    Untrue.

Yes you can put downloaded songs onto your xbox. BUT, you have to convert them from mp3 or whatever format to cda format and then burn them onto a cdrw (special kind not sure what). After all of this is done you proceed by ripping them onto your xbox's harddrive as usual.

It has to be an audio CD. You can't burn MP3s on to the Xbox. So when you burn your MP3s, burn them as an audio CD. Now, it can't be a CDR. It has to be a CDRW. And I don't think there are any certain types that don't work. Just be hopefull that yours do.

No they are right, it is CDRW's that work and most CDR's that don't (a few will).

I also understand that you need to put 2 seconds in between songs for the XBox to copy the audio files properly. I think my compadre Lynxfx shared that with me

question... Lets say there is a virus on one of the files, would that most likely screw up your box??? and would just checking the cd for virus's most likely prevent this problem...

Most regular CD's are recorded in the .CDA format. This, however is almost the only format that the X-Box will read. Note that this format is larger and contains better sound quality. The X-Box has been programmed to be able to use mp3's but not copy them. You can probably get a chip installed for that or something.

You can't have a virus on an audio cd or in mp3 files.

CASPER IS CORRECT SIR.. People are very creative when it comes to viruses and trying to compromise your system.. A problem could lurk ANYTIME your system uses a file.. or executes or man you get the idea..
