Thread: My Xbox is going haywire

Default My Xbox is going haywire

Every game I try doesnt work. I keep getting the error saying it cant regognize the disc. When it finally does work, it makes this clicking noise as it spins, and nothing loads. For example, I could load my Franchise in NFL 2K3, and when I went to the edit players, no pictures of them were there, just an empty box. Anyone know what I shuld do before using my 2 year warrenty?

well if you can use the warentee yet use itbut you can try starting the game up and fliping your xbox upside down that should work, but its not the best for the system but if its already broken not much else could go wrong

If you flip your Xbox upside down you are begging for the disc to be jammed. I wouldn't do that if I were you. I would use your 2 year warranty.

Flipping your xbox upside down does just as much good as shaking hands with your cat when it is sick.

It sounds like a problem with your laser. Try running a lens cleaner (a safe one) and if that doesn't work try your warranty. My friend had the same problem. Sent his in and he got a new one sent back in 3 days. Good Luck.

I ran my lens cleaner a couple times and it didnt really help much. I'll try a few more games a little bit later.

Well hows this for odd. The lens cleaner says to go to track 3, but track 3 doesnt play. 1 and 2 play, but not 3. Is it still cleaning though if I just let it run on track 2? All it needs to do is spin, right?

Hmm, might it have something to do with the fan being VERY dusty perhaps? I slightly blew into the back of my xbox and a cloud of dust came out. Might that be the problem?

Use your warrenty NOW. Best thing to do unless you want to have no XBOX for longer than you should! I am glad I got a 2 yr warrenty on the sucka. Other wise it would be bad unless it didnt break. If you have a warrenty, USE IT

Call the number and get it sent back for repair. Mine was acting similar to yours last week until it got to the point that it wouldn't load any game at all. Sent it on Friday of last week...hopefully it will be back home in time for Xbox Live

Except I'm lucky enough to have a store warrenty. I just gotta take it t the store I got it from and they'll give me a new one.

Question though, does that mean I lose all my saved games or do they somehow transfer hard drives?

Unless you have a memory card you'll probably loose your saved games by taking it to the store

Turns out that it reads audio CD's just fine, it's just the games that arent working...very odd.
