    Default XBox Live False Advertising/Claims?

I heard that Phantasy Star Online was going to have a monthly charge today. I knew something may have been imminent, but I did not know that Microsoft would actually allow it to be pay2play. The reason I am ranting about this is because Microsoft was bragging that the consumers would not have to pay per month for their games, with the exceptions of MMORPG's and the yearly charge. PSO is not a MMORPG, yet we will have to pay the "hunter's license". Not to sound *****y, but PS2 Online is looking attractive with the keyboard and all (I will not get it, though). What will happen when we have Phantasy Star Online, a MMORPG, and after the first year XBox Live begins to charge/month for the service itself. Will we be paying $30-$40 per MONTH? With the constant raising of prices of the MMORPGs' monthly charges, and now playing a simple Diablo 2-esque game and having to pay... frankly, I am getting a bit worried. Is anyone else sharing the same fears?

Phantasy Star Online is an MMORPG, where do you get that it isn't?

I believe it was state arbout 4 months ago that PSO won't have a monthly fee nor a fee at all. No charge on Game Cube so why charge on the Xbox?

PSO is not a MMORPG from what I have seen. It has levels and quests.
Here are the definitions which are easily confused:

MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online RPG) - Massive world where thousands of people are on a dedicated server generally playing in a large world.

ORPG (Online RPG) - Games like Diablo 2. You have levels instead of an open-ended world.

If I am not mistaken, PSO has levels and bosses. That is not considered a MMORPG.

NO! And stop spreading *****ty rumours like this! Nowhere have you read any reliable information on the Microsoft's pricing for the second year! It doesn't exist! That information has either not been release by MS or it has not even been decided by MS!

I am not spreading rumors. I am taking other rumors and facts and putting 2 and 2 together and got 4.5.

No, you are making sh*t up. Nobody knows how much Microsoft will charge. Nobody even knows whether it'll be on a monthly or yearly basis.

I know what a massively multiplayer online role playing game is. Phantasy Star online can be considered one becuase there is mssive amounts of people online playing an RPG. I don't agree with your definition.

J Dub was right. you are making this stuff up. It doesn't matter if you are taking a bunch of rumors and making them into one big as* rumor, you are still making rumors, which is wrong.

How am I making sh*t up when I said that it MAY happen. Again, the XBA Nazis come after me with the "literal" sticks. I know what a MMORPG is. PSO is an Online RPG. If no one bought PSO, would it be a MMORPG? No. If no one bought Asheron's Call, would it be a MMORPG? Yes, because it is a massive world with everyone joined on one dedicated server (or no one) with a continuous timeline. PSO is not continuous, nor is it a massive world. It is many levels with bosses. Is Ghost Recon considered a MMOFPS? Let's stick MMO on EVERY game, shall we? The only example you gave was "Phantasy Star online can be considered one becuase there is mssive amounts of people online playing an RPG"... no.

About what I said, I gave a SITUATION. A probable situation that you can neither prove or disprove. I based this on facts and rumors that people like YOU gave. Let's see here. What did I add up?
    -PSO $10/month charge
    -Other $10/month MMORPG charge(s)
    -Possible $10/month XBox Live charge
    -$50/year for service

Now I am not scientists, but this is not as far fetched as the **** you guys are spitting out. Now shut the hell up and get out of your denial box.

Guys are going to get a rude awakening when software companies start charging to play their respective games AND you have to pay M$ some kind of monthly fee. Not all companies will charge you but I'd be willing to bet a lot will. They need to make a buck too, not just M$.

January 06, 2003 - Numerous retailers are reporting that Phantasy Star Online will be shipping for Xbox on February 25, 2003. While the specifics of the pricing scheme are still unknown, there will more than likely be a small monthly fee to pay along with the price of the game, as well as your yearly Xbox Live subscription. Also, although the game does include voice chat with the Communicator, the Japanese version of the game will also be shipping with a USB adapter for use with a keyboard. Whether this adapter will come packaged with the US version of the game is also unknown, but it seems like a likely bet. More as it develops.
Still stays pricing specifics are still unknown. link

So there's my link..which is very recent...now touce' man...let's see where your's is

Wow, dudes got a temper. Whenever someone disagrees with him he has to try and prove them wrong. Well let me ask you this. Why would microsoft charge 10$ a month plus a 50$ yearly fee?

Why would PSO charge a fee when it doesn't have a fee on Gamecube?

I am just trying to tell you that you are spreading rumors that have no basis of fact. Why would one feel the need to do so?

I'm definately buying PSO Episodes I & II since it was one of my favorite games of all time. I'm just debating whether I'm going online with it. I really need a Sonic Team game on Xbox since their my favorite developer ever.

Does XBox look like a GameCube to you?

Why would one have an opinion? It might spread a rumor that that opinion might be true. Again, you cannot accept opinons. Just because I prove you wrong, you feel that you are all of the sudden superior? I gave a scenario, and you act like I have unleashed some deamon. Chill...

    Asherons Call 1 & 2 are MMORPG's.
    DAoC is an MMORPG
    Anarchy Online is an MMORPG.

Every single one of these is level based.

    Level-up based...

From what people have told me, PSO is played like Diablo 2 in a sense that it has LEVELS (stages) and bosses. If I am wrong, you guys could have corrected me a long time ago.

The way I understand it, they are referring to character levels.
