    Default HDTV question

How can I tell if my xbox is sending/hdtv is receiving an hdtv signal? Basically I want to rent enter the matrix and run it in 1080i which my tv (sony kv-32????) is capable of displaying. But how can I tell whether is is running in 1080i or not? Thanks.

I'd be interested in finding this out as well. I have my XBox set to run at all of the resolutions, and my TV supports up to 1080i, but is there a way to actually confirm what mode it is currently running in?

Not all tv's do this but most do. You can usually just hit "display" or a similar key to see what the tv is receiving. If you don't have anything like that then you can do an eye test.

First set the dashboard to not support any resolution but 480i, so basically disable all of the resolutions, 480p, 720p, 1080i. Turn on the game and check it out for a sec. Go into the game too, not just the menus. Walk to an area that has a detailed object, some diaginal lines such as stacked boxes and take a good note of what that looks like. Now go back to the dashboard, enable just 1080i and start the game again and go to the same spot. You should notice a difference.

But all of this is to just varify for your own satisfaction. Basically any Xbox game is going to output out at the highest res that the game supports and that is enabled in the dashboard. So if it supports 1080i, and you have 1080i enabled then it will output in 1080i.
