ahhh...drop the usb..go ethernet....just get a cheap ethernet card which there very very cheap....8-12 bucks cheap....maybe even verizon will include the card in there dsl install kit...if it does install the card and use ethernet instead of usb...you need ethernet for xbox

Go here and shop for your ethernet card. Or go to you local computer store. You can get them for $20 or less.

Both DSL ISPs I've used supplied an ethernet card w/ subscription. Not sure about Verizon though. You might want to wait till you get your kit from them.

Dude, he doesn't need an expensive router, he can get a 10-20$ switch that works just as well for the intended purpose of splitting an internet connection between an xbox and a computer.

Kev, just go to staples or a computer store and pick up a cheap ethernet, the key word being ethernet, switch. You can't go wrong .

router and switch are different.....need router to share internet..meaning you can have computer and xbox online at the same time...cant with a switch...youd have to turn computer off if you wanted to get online with the xbox or vis versa...xbox and pc cant be online at the same time with a switch

edit: http://www.compuhq.com/dlindi6exet4.html compatible live router 25 bucks with 30 day warranty or choose it with 1 year warranty for 40 bucks...great deal

and nic cards are super cheap.....im sure they come with your dsl install kit so i wouldnt worry but heres a decent realtek one for 5 bucks http://www.mrtechus.com/gen10nicpcic.html

Venom's right. I was pretty angry when I found that out. Even asked around before I went and purchased my now dusty switch.

A lot of people turn their PC's off anways though, so it might not make much of a difference. I've got 5 PC's on my network, so I had to end up going w/ the router.

the only chance that can happen is if your isp gives ya more then 1 ip address...in that case you can use a switch but thats only cause you have more then one ip address.....not all isp's give ya more then 1 ip address....they want you to pay for them...your lucky yours gives ya more then one

why dont you just connect a RJ-45 cable directly from your xbox to your modem? that works best. i had some probelms using a nic caRD. it kept restartinbg my pc and usb is unstable.
